A strange world

Chapter 43 Section 43. Wrong spell casting

The cheerful tune of the lute flowed in the tavern.

The bard who was too lazy to tell stories to the empty tavern played the piano casually.

It hasn't rained yet tonight, but the lingering clouds have stopped the guests, except the drunkards.

Fast leaned against the counter as usual, turning towards Annan who was passing by, his lazy expression gradually solidified.

"Have you learned how to cast spells?"

"Is it obvious?"

"I've seen spellcasters..."

Fast said complicatedly, "They will appear hungry and tired after their magic power is exhausted."

Annan didn't feel tired or hungry, and he couldn't imagine what it would be like to have "hungry on his face."

Resisting the urge to find a mirror, Annan hesitated and said: "The spell was cast successfully but it doesn't seem to be successful..."

The problems facing Annan were not written in the Warlock's Notes.

The sound of the piano stopped, and Annan then told the story of summoning Wood by releasing a spell, and then asked: "Is this related to Wood helping me accelerate the magic vortex?"

"You should ask more professional people, I'm just a soldier." Fast asked Evelin to get his coat, "I'll accompany you to Mr. Victor's place."

"What about the job in the tavern?" Annan asked while taking off his apron.

Fast said helplessly: "You are already a spell caster, but you still want to continue working as a waiter in the pub?"

Annan has not yet realized what being a warlock will bring to him.

"Are you ready?"

"what to prepare?"

"You go home tonight and you'll be woken up at first light."

Fast said slowly:

"When you come to the window, you will see aristocratic and wealthy businessmen you have never seen before appear at the door, and carriages loaded with gifts block the whole street. Then, the people you have interacted with in the past will be rummaged through like garbage. Come out and find your preferences and weaknesses through them. Finally, through coercion and inducement, either become a member of a certain family and wealthy man, or work for them."

Almost when Annan connected becoming a warlock with losing his freedom, Fast patted him on the shoulder: "I won't scare you anymore. The nobles can't reach here. At least in Pinglin Town, no one dares to talk to Victor." Sir, rob you."

Annan has two jobs, one with a boss who is an elite warrior, and the other with a boss who is one of the top 100 mage apprentices in the Kingdom of Ruikan'er.

As well as Fast and others, they have never given up their curiosity about Annan's identity - on the one hand, his appearance is the same as that of the most pampered upper-class people, on the other hand, he has no knowledge of common sense.

Annan remembered something: "I told Aunt Susan after I became a warlock."

"Either no one believed her, or she didn't tell anyone."

Annan guessed it was the latter, and Aunt Susan would really not show off in order to protect him.

“Evelin, keep an eye on the store.”

Fast turned around and gave instructions before going out with Annan.

Arriving at the wealthy street, the windows of Victor's house were still lighted. Shortly after Annan knocked on the door, Mr. Victor, holding an oil lamp and wearing a coat over his pajamas, opened the door.

"...You cast a spell?"

It seems that anyone can see Annan's identity.

"Hmm...but it seems something unexpected happened."

Mr. Victor turned and walked into the room. Annan and Fast followed and sat on the wooden chairs in the living room.

"What happened?"

Annan repeated the story about how Wood was summoned despite the spell being cast.

"Is your friend also a warlock?"

"What's the meaning?"

Fast didn't understand. Only Annan knew that this was Mr. Victor saying "I have a friend" before sarcastically.

"Do you remember the difference between magic and sorcerer casting?"

Annan thought for a while and said: "A mage needs a lot of preparation to release a spell, but a warlock only needs to imagine?"

"Your friend came to ask me if he knew the reason?"

"I... want to ask for my friend, how can I avoid this mistake?"

Victor just told Annan that it takes hundreds or thousands of failures for a mage to construct a spell. Countless mage apprentices have encountered setbacks at this step and have been blocked in front of the elusive magic palace.

But Annan easily surpassed them and stepped into the palace with one foot, where he could enjoy the beautiful scenery in the palace.

"You can cast the spell once." Fast said suddenly.

"here?"

The remaining magic power should be enough to cast a low-level summoning spell. But this is Mr. Victor's home...and the old man is here too.

It's okay to summon Wood, but if some other evil creature is summoned...

"Don't underestimate Mr. Victor. If he wants, no one in the town can beat him, and this room has constant defensive magic."

"so smart?"

Annan looked at the old man wearing pajamas with clouds and rabbit patterns in surprise.

"Cast the spell." Mr. Victor even sat in the chair.

This gave Annan an unprecedented level of confidence, and he even looked forward to summoning a demon to entertain the two of them...and then was thrown out of his mind. Who knows if the warlock's "thinking" will actually summon a demon.

Annan recalled the feeling when summoning Wood, adjusted it slightly, removed the vampire part, and imagined elemental creatures outside the main plane.

The magic power accumulated in the magic vortex dropped to almost dryness. As the summoning spell took shape, the shadow gradually appeared——

"Summoning me at this time is to get new blood..."

When Wood appeared, he felt a familiar aura, but then he noticed two unfamiliar and threatening auras.

"...You betrayed me!!!"

Just as the screaming Wood was about to turn into a shadow, an old voice sounded: "Living Rope Technique."

A length of rope appeared out of thin air and wrapped around Wood, turning him into a writhing maggot that fell to the ground.

"Mr. Victor, Wood is not an enemy."

"I'm just afraid that the little bat will scare me to death." Mr. Victor frowned and looked at the twisted and howling vampire, as if he was being tortured or a pig about to be slaughtered. The living rope technique could not stop his mouth. "Annan, tell him to shut up."

"Mr. Victor and Mr. Fast didn't mean to hurt you." Wood was still twisting, so Annan had no choice but to continue: "The vampire hunter has left the town, you are safe."

Wood, who was wailing and twisting, suddenly stopped: "Really?"

"Really." Annan introduced Wood: "This is Mr. Fast, the tavern owner. This is Mr. Victor, uh, a mage."

At this time, old man Victor found the problem: "Don't let it help you accelerate the magic vortex in the future. You are not yet proficient in casting spells and you are easily affected."

"I see."

Then his attention fell on Wood: "There are not many vampires in the north. Can you give me some blood for research?"

"Even death can't make a vampire hand over his blood!" Wood flatly refused.

"You are very weak now. I can provide you with some human blood."

"When do you need my blood? I can do it now!"

Victor stopped paying attention to the excited Wood and focused his attention on Annan.

"Are you ready?"
