Chapter 266: One hundred and eighty-one. Receding Wraith

   Chapter 266

"Because you are not human." Lu Li replied.

Resentful voices resounded around the alley: "I am human."

"you are not."

On the edge of the alley, a pale face emerged under the dim yellow street lamp. Its face was covered in blood and unkempt, and it roared at Lu Li, "I'm a human!"

Lu Li's tone didn't change at all: "You're not."

After a brief silence, the face on the edge of the alley suddenly began to turn, twisting from tilted to parallel—and continued to rotate. Soon, her jaw was pointed to the sky, and her head fell to the ground. It continued to turn in horror like this and asked: "How do you know that I am not human..."

"Humans cannot survive in the dark." Lu Li replied.

The rotation stopped for a few seconds, and continued to rotate. In the darkness, the neck was twisted in circles like a twist: "If I'm not a human, you won't save me..."

"meeting."

His head stopped spinning again, and then continued to spin like clockwork, whispering like the previous few times: "Why didn't you save me..."

Lu Li replied, "Since it's not human, it shouldn't be restrained by several men."

The pair of eyes on the woman's head that didn't rotate with her head moved and solidified on Anna's body: "One of the same kind...why are you with a human..."

Anna was terrified, worried that the truth would be revealed, she subconsciously filled with breath, and at the same time peeked at Lu Li's profile.

Lu Li looked at the head at the entrance of the alley: "This has nothing to do with you."

   "Damn wise man..."

said the turning head, his malicious eyes fixed on Lu Li, and he reluctantly retreated into the darkness behind the alley.

There was no longer a sound from the dark alley. After a while, the malice that oppressed Lu Li suddenly dissipated.

This wraith is leaving this area.

"It's leaving." Anna, who was vigilant beside her, whispered.

"Can you sneak attack on her?" Lu Li tilted his head and asked her.

This resentful spirit is a treasure. Knowing her can get information, kill her for extra rewards, and make the psychic gun stronger.

Anna shook her head lightly and said, "I can't seem to beat..."

   "Then forget it."

Lu Li quietly felt that the maliciousness faded away until it completely dissipated, and pulled the reins again, bringing noise to the empty street.

The carriage went away, leaving this dark alley.

The streetlights under the tarpaulin are equally icy as the road.

  …

   "Where have you been?"

sent the carriage to the car shop, and the movement of Lu Li and Anna back to their residence woke Mary up.

Or she woke up when they were out.

   "Manor." Lu Li answered briefly.

A smile flashed in Mary's eyes, and she looked at Anna: "You sneaked home to see?"

Anna couldn't hide her emotions, and Mary quickly found out that it wasn't like this, and asked with some doubts: "Or what did you find?"

She thought of Lu Li's identity.

Before Mary thought about it further, Lu Li explained, "Well, we're going to take Anna's sister away."

   "Sister...is that tree?"

"Um."

"Of course, I happen to know a gardener, Anna, do you remember old Henry? He used to be a manor worker, but he has retired since the plants stopped growing."

   "Well...then please Aunt Mary."

Mary didn't take Anna to accompany her this time, but it also made Anna feel awkward—when she watched herself and Lu Li return to the guest room.

The    oil lamp was placed on the table, Anna diligently found a towel to wipe off the mist on the glass cover, and saw Lu Li took out two small wooden boxes from his pocket, opened them one by one, and then put away the one with the eyeballs.

The wooden box containing the carrion was left by Lu Li and placed on the desk while the window was opened.

There is no smell at all, only the mildew on the carrion makes it look uncomfortable.

"Will the crow not get sick after eating it?" Anna asked curiously.

   "Crows are scavengers."

"You'll get sick if you eat hairy things."

"You mean that what the merchant sells makes the black crow sick?"

"Well... that's right." Anna decided to give up thinking.

The minute hand of the alarm clock that I brought with me moved, and time passed minute by minute. Three minutes later, the familiar sound of flapping wings came from outside the window.

In the gap of the curtain rolled up by the wind, a crow folded its wings and landed on the windowsill.

This black crow came very quickly.

Lu Li glanced at Anna quietly, motionless.

Another fifteen minutes later, the wind brought the sound of wings flapping, and another crow fell and jumped onto the desk.

With    Anna's soft cry, Lu Li opened the letterbox tied to the black crow's leg, and there was nothing inside.

Later black crows were attracted by the carrion in the small wooden box, jumped in front of the box, and pecked the carrion with their sharp beaks.

"Some information was sent to the local investigator base for me."

Lu Li said, got up and closed the window, tore off a blank note, and wrote down everything about the encounter with the [cry for help in the alley].

In normal times, Anna might have wanted to feed this crow, but now there is something disturbing her about her.

She desperately wanted to know the answer.

Anna asked casually, seemingly unintentionally: "The ritual of that resentful spirit seems to be very simple."

"Not necessarily." Lu Li answered with his head down and writing.

Ana asked in confusion: "Didn't you just let it go away easily? It only took a few words..."

   "It left because of you."

   "Because of me..." Anna panicked.

"You sensed that we were in the ritual of resentment, which reminded me." Lu Li paused and continued after writing a line: "Otherwise I might choose the wrong way, such as leaving or going to help."

From the results, either of the above two methods will fall into the trap of the Wraith Ritual, and the outcome will not be very good.

Ana was stunned, no wonder Lu Li's behavior was not the same as usual - he always either left or escaped.

"So we didn't run away and didn't help, which allowed us to pass its ritual at the end?"

"perhaps."

Anna is puzzled, is there anything that cannot be determined?

Lu Li replied, "Because I don't know if we really passed the ceremony or because you were there to stop its attack."

The Wraith is much weaker than the Evil Spirit, but its undissipated humanity makes it more uncertain—in other words, the machine will operate according to the instructions, but the human will not.

"It sounds really incomprehensible..." Anna, who knew it, murmured, she couldn't help but think what would happen if an ordinary person encountered such a situation. Can't run away, can't help, can't do nothing...

but……

She couldn't help but glanced at Lu Li, he didn't seem to realize that he was already a wraith.

Anna breathed a sigh of relief, fortunately the resentful spirit didn't say anything about her situation.

On the other side, Lu Li wrote about what happened tonight, thought about it, and added a line at the bottom.

【The carrion money for summoning the black crow hopes to be reimbursed】
