Bulgarian Empire

Vol 5 Chapter 10: , Equipping the aircraft to the company

On March 12, 1918, the Bulgarian Military Commission announced the new military divisions, personnel appointments and deployment of troops, including the final disarmament plan.

According to the plan, Bulgaria will be divided into ten military regions, three of which will be in the Balkans. They are:

The Transylvanian Military District, responsible for the defense of the northwestern territory of Bulgaria, has a total force of approximately 65,000;

The Belgrade Military Region is responsible for territorial defense in the southwest, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a total force of about 48,000;

The Sofia Military District is responsible for the defense of all territories from the coast of the Black Sea to the Mediterranean, including the former Bulgaria, Constantinople, the Greek Peninsula, and Albania, with a total force of approximately 85,000. (Note: One hundred thousand guards are not included.)

There are four military regions in Asia, namely:

The Asia Minor Military Region is mainly responsible for the defense of the Asia Minor Peninsula. The current main task is to stare at the Ottomans in Ankara, with a total force of about 96,000.

Transcaucasian Military Region, mainly responsible for Georgia’s defense work, with a total force of about 32,000;

The Persian Gulf Military Region is mainly responsible for the defense of Iraq, Iran, and the coastal areas of the Persian Gulf, with a total force of approximately 68,000;

The Middle East Military Region is mainly responsible for the defense of Syria, Jordan, Palestine, and the Arabian Peninsula, with a total force of about 88,000; (including Somalia)

There are also three military regions in Africa, namely:

The Libyan Military Region is responsible for the defense of the Libyan region, with a total force of approximately 23,000;

The East African Military Region is responsible for the defense of Tanganyika, Rwanda and Burundi, with a total strength of about 28,000;

The West African Military Region, responsible for the defense of Namibia, has a total force of about 22,000.

The total strength of the 6 armies in Bulgaria is still as high as 655,000. If the navy (76,000) and air force (more than 68,000) are added, the total strength of the country is as high as 799,000!

This total strength is still high among the great powers, far surpassing Britain and France, but Ferdinand still approved it.

There is no way, no matter how small the army is, it is not enough. Unless you learn from Britain and France in the colonial area and form a colonial army to maintain order, it will not work in Bulgaria.

Unless Ferdinand abandons the localization of the colony, any increase in the local armed forces of the colony is prohibited. The colonial forces of Britain and France will also be the main force in the future to overthrow their colonial rule.

For this reason, Ferdinand decided not to teach the locals to use guns. Even if there is a rebellion in the future, the police can suppress the riots!

Don't doubt that the chiefs of this era really have very few firearms and cannot produce them by themselves. They can only purchase a small amount of equipment for use by their cronies, which poses no threat to the regular army.

Perhaps after the colony is eliminated, Bulgaria’s 6th Army will be disarmed again, and the navy and air force will not move, but this disarmament is limited to tens of thousands of people. The final total force of the country is still unlikely to be less than 70,000. Without Ferdinand, I can't sleep!

The distribution of the navy is even simpler. The main fleet is directly divided into three: the Persian Gulf Fleet, the Mediterranean Fleet, and the African Fleet.

The main fleet is still the Mediterranean fleet, with half of the capital ships, followed by the Persian Gulf fleet, and the African fleet is only responsible for soy sauce.

This is determined by geographic location. For example, Libya does not need the African fleet to be responsible, and the Mediterranean fleet will be responsible for their safety.

The same is true in Somalia. The Persian Gulf Fleet is responsible for maritime security in this area. The final purpose of the African Fleet is to guard Namibia and Tanganyika, several African port cities that are still under planning!

Compared with the navy, the air force is much more active. Airports are spread all over the country. Anyway, aircraft requirements are not high in this era. A hardened plain is an airport.

Even in order to strengthen local control, Ferdinand is still considering deploying aircraft to each company. When the military district requests a meeting, the officers can be gathered in a few hours, and the local rebellion can also be extinguished.

This idea was made by Ferdinand based on the actual situation in Bulgaria. First, there are still a large number of aircraft in the hands of the Bulgarian Air Force. Once the war is over, these aircraft can only be retired. After retiring, these aircraft will be scrapped. Good use.

It is impossible for the civilian market to eat these more than 30,000 planes. Civilian airlines have just started. Except for transport planes, fighters and bombers have no way to deal with them. Capitalists will not buy them, and Ferdinand dare not sell them. !

Secondly, the maintenance cost is simple and cheap. The performance of the World War I aircraft is not good, and the operation is also practical and durable, and the driving skills are not high.

There is also the fact that fuel is cheap. Bulgaria can never be short of fuel. The government can purchase fuel at a very low price, and the cost is not much higher.

...

Marshal Imya Dimityev has had a headache recently. Since the great Ferdinand inadvertently proposed the idea of equipping the aircraft to the company at the staff meeting, military generals have been looking for one after another. The door comes.

There is no doubt that the 6th Army will definitely support it, and the Air Force will naturally oppose it. Once this plan is completed, there will be no air force in future colonial wars.

To deal with the indigenous rebels in the colonies, any aircraft is a black technology, and there is no need to worry about air defense firepower.

Each company has one aircraft, one regiment is one flying squadron, and one division has one flying squadron. In future wars, they won't have to call for air force support. They can pile up the enemy by just relying on their numbers.

...

The 6th Army Minister Popov asked unhappily: "Your Excellency, the Chief of the General Staff, deploy the aircraft to each company, such a good thing, what is your staff still hesitating?

Did the Air Force put pressure on you? Impossible, Imia, you are not a counselor. The little kids in the Air Force dare not threaten you, right? "

Imya Dimityev's face sank. He wanted to say, apart from the 6th Army, who dare to threaten the Chief of General Staff, will anyone else?

Imya Dimityev asked unhappyly: "Popov is enough, am I still thinking about it? Do you think I don't want to equip the company with the plane?

But is the problem that simple? What about logistics maintenance? What about the crew? What about the cost? As long as these problems can be solved, the planes are all ready-made, and they are piled up in the warehouse. I will bring them to you right away! "

Popov said calmly: "Our Sixth Army is not picky, as long as it is an aircraft, whether it is a fighter or a bomber, even a transport aircraft.

The crew, aren't they all ready? You can drop from the 6th Army to the Air Force, why can't you be transferred from the Air Force back to the 6th Army? They are all Bulgarian troops, but without that law, they cannot be transferred internally!

As for logistics supplies, don't we have oil fields? Can you just buy it at direct cost? Big deal, I personally do their work, I believe the capitalists will support our work! "

Imya Dimityev searched his forehead and said, "Impossible! You can't move any of the air force crews, and the staffing of the Sixth Army cannot be increased, and military expenditures cannot be increased. If you can do Equip it when you arrive!

You don’t need to worry about airplanes. We have some of them off-the-shelf. They are all produced by our own military enterprises. The quality is guaranteed. You can find people if you want after-sales service. Let's take care of the rest! "

Popov gritted his teeth and said: "Well, anyway, we are about to order this batch of aircraft from the Sixth Army. It is always okay to let the Air Force help us train them?

We don't ask to train fighter pilots, as long as we can fly planes, I can't do it. With so many people in our 6th army, we can't make up more than 10,000 pilots! "

Imya Dimitev asked worriedly: "What about the logistics staff? Do you want to train a crew for each company?"

Popov smiled and said, "Why do you want such a complicated plane? We only need the simplest plane. Send the repairman in the army to train. Isn't it the same to repair cars and planes?

As for the other crew members, of course, ordinary soldiers are allowed to work part-time. What's wrong with learning more knowledge? Don’t forget that the current level of knowledge of the officers and soldiers of our 6th Army is very high! "

Imya Dimitev has to admit that Popov’s idea is still somewhat feasible. The knowledge level of the officers and soldiers in the active army in Bulgaria is indeed not low, at least they are graduates of elementary school, and even lower are retired. Go home.

If they are allowed to learn, it is really not difficult to train a group of logistics personnel. The only troublesome issue is funding.

The problem of the pilots was automatically ignored. With the huge base of the 6th Army, it is really not a problem to train 10,000 people.

Imya Dimitev said helplessly: "Well then, I agree!"

Anyway, don't increase military expenditures or increase the establishment, let the 6th military department toss on its own. If it fails, it will waste a batch of aircraft. If it succeeds, it will make a lot of money.

After receiving the support of the General Staff, Popov immediately pulled Imya Dimityev to Ferdinand. There is no doubt that he will cut the mess quickly and settle the matter.

...

It will be Ferdinand’s turn to have a headache. Is it really that simple to allocate aircraft to a company? If so, it is estimated that many countries in later generations will do this. Several hundred million fighters can't afford it. There is always a shortage of several million helicopters, right?

Ferdinand asked calmly: "What about the airport?"

Don’t look at what he proposed first, they will definitely support it. In fact, Ferdinand only has this idea, but he is not sure whether this idea is correct, so he accidentally mentioned it and let the Bulgarian military decide. !

Imya Dimityev thought for a while and replied: "Your Majesty, ordinary planes don't have high requirements for the airport. Just add a few runways in the camp of the military district. The cost will not be too high!"

Ferdinand nodded. The construction cost is of course not high. It is a matter of hundreds of tons of cement, but the land is not money?

He asked again: "Have you solved the problems of personnel, logistics, and military expenses?"

Popov cautiously replied: "Your Majesty, please rest assured that we can train our own personnel, and we can figure out a solution for the military expenses of the 6th Army, but we hope that we can get the goods at the cost price for logistics procurement!"

Ferdinand thought for a while and said: "State-owned enterprises are responsible for the production of airplanes. It is not a problem to get the goods at cost. I can also find ways for you to purchase fuel, but for other costs, you have to find ways yourself!

In addition, the problem of the airport is very troublesome. If it is in a colony, it is sparsely populated and you can enclose your own land, but not in the Balkans. We don't have so much land for you to use! "

After a moment of silence, Popov replied: "Yes! Your Majesty, please rest assured, we don't need to be equipped with a company in the Balkans, as long as it is equipped with a division!"

Ferdinand shook his head and said, "No, I mean that the plane is equipped with the company, but it is only implemented in the colony. There is a large area and sparsely populated. You can play around, but the Balkans can't do it, in case you make something When things come, trouble!

By the way, how do you plan to resolve part of the increased military expenditure? "

Just kidding, Ferdinand proposed that the main purpose of assigning planes to the company was to strengthen the supervision of the colony and restrict the birth of the Emperor.

But the Balkans is different. The 6th Army is already very powerful. If it continues to strengthen, the air force and navy may not be balanced. Ferdinand doesn't like anything that breaks the balance of power!

Popov knew that the dream of Airline 6 was broken, and Ferdinand's meaning was very clear. The status of the air force was still unshakable. The Air Force 6 was equipped with aircraft only to maintain the colony's rule.

By the way, more pilots can be trained. If it were not for the aircraft of this era, they would not be able to control freely ~ www.novelmtl.com ~ Ferdinand would have promoted agricultural aircraft long ago.

Fortunately, the idea of rebuilding the 6th Air Force is not very strong. This time, I just held the attitude of trying it out. Failure is also expected.

Popov replied honestly: "Your Majesty, our 6th military department plans to open several farms overseas, and strive to solve the food problem of the local garrison within three years, which can save a lot of military expenses!"

Ferdinand nodded. As early as during the World War, the Bulgarian army was preparing to enclose the land, but they had their pre-optimized places, and they were later sealed off by Ferdinand as a fief.

Now that they are planning a farm again, they are also forced out. Since the restructuring of state-owned enterprises, the army and the government can no longer participate in commercial operations. Except for agriculture, they can only wait for financial allocations.

Fortunately, Bulgaria now has a lot of land, and they can go overseas to enclose land. The government can only pay attention to Asia Minor at best. In Africa, even if the army encloses all the land, no one will bother.

In this regard, Ferdinand is also happy to see the result. It is not easy to open those areas in this era. The military is willing to open up wasteland and must be strongly supported!

Ferdinand smiled and said, "Well, then I wish you good luck! I personally sponsor you 100,000 tons of fertilizers, and I hope you can quickly produce results!"

Ferdinand doesn’t care about how the army clears wasteland. Anyway, he doesn’t think the army will go to farming honestly. Maybe soon there will be plantations in the Bulgarian colony.

In any case, the army will not be short of labor. The two predecessors of Britain and France have already set an example.
