Deep Sea Embers

A New Year’s letter to book friends

In such a hurry and so busy, a year has passed by just like this. Every time I look back when the New Year is approaching, I always feel a sense of unreality, and this year is no exception.

I remember that at this time last year, "Sword of Dawn" had not yet been completed, but the plot had come to an end. At that time, the only thoughts in my mind when I opened my eyes every day were "Which pit to fill today", "Why is there still a pit here", "Why did I dig this hole in the first place?" I feel pain and joy in the process of repeatedly reviewing the plot and filling the hole. I calculate day by day when this story will end just right - and then welcome my long-lost vacation.

Then, the holiday came, and the hole-filler's joy of successfully completing the book lasted for twenty-four hours - when he opened his eyes the next day, he learned the great news that the community was closed.

So I stayed at home for two months during the holidays. In the third month, I started to adjust the status of the new book, organize preliminary materials, and outline and write the manuscript. I thought that I couldn’t go out anyway, so I should do something serious.

So the new book was released as scheduled, and the pit filler happily turned into a pit digger for the time being, returning to the familiar rhythm of daily typing. After starting work, he got another great news - the epidemic has temporarily subsided, and you can go out and have fun. .

At that time, I couldn't help but look at the keyboard in front of me and sigh, life is always unpredictable.

But soon, the performance of the new book diluted the little regret of a wasted holiday. As everyone knows, "Embers of the Deep" was very popular on the shelves, and even broke the 24-hour first order record.

For me, this is a glorious moment that I could not even imagine after twelve years of writing the book.

There are so many old readers who have been with me for so many years, as well as new readers I just met, who supported me to welcome this moment. Looking back now, the numbers on the day it was put on the shelves are still like a dream.

After that, I happily dug holes and filled them every day, telling a story I liked seriously, watching readers gradually fall in love with the new friends this new story brought to them, watching Duncan's adventures on the boundless sea, and watching In this chapter, everyone speculates that the plot will be exciting, and life will become more fulfilling and interesting in the second half of the year - until the whole family becomes positive, disrupting the rhythm of life again.

Up to now, I and my family have recovered. Although I feel a little relieved, I have to temporarily endure the trouble caused by brain fog. Sometimes my thinking suddenly gets stuck when I am writing something, and sometimes I suddenly cannot concentrate to understand. The words on the screen are at their most serious. In the middle of writing, I will suddenly forget that I am writing a book. When I am about to switch to an interface, I will get up and close the computer... Writing, which I was already familiar with, suddenly becomes a slightly difficult task. things.

I would like to say here that I would like to thank ord’s auto-save function for saving my life.

So I have to sigh again: life is always unpredictable.

By the way, another sentiment: As a human being, health is the most important thing.

But anyway, things are slowly getting better.

The effects of brain fog seem to be gradually lessening (I hope it’s not an illusion). There are gradually more people on the street outside. The previously deserted commercial street has recently returned to a bit of its former liveliness - maybe it will take some time for everything to get back on track. But as long as we are still working hard, there is always hope for the future.

Looking back, it seems that the single chapter on New Year's Eve shouldn't contain too much heavy content, so let's just say some blessings for the coming year (not poisonous milk this time).

It’s a new year. I hope that all of us will get better and better. I hope that the country will be peaceful and the people are safe. I hope that you all will be well. I also hope that my side can quickly return to normal. Please update more frequently.

One thing to say, I really hope that double updates can resume as soon as possible - this is the early stage of a new book, and digging holes is such a joyful thing, which author can refuse.

So, let us welcome the next year with the expectation of all the good things!
