I stayed up all night until about six o'clock in the morning and wrote the finale in one go.

The last book had more than 600,000 words. This book has nearly 1.8 million words, which is not many words, but it is a big breakthrough for me.

In fact, the original plan was to write more than two million words, but in the later period, my performance declined, there were no recommendations, and there were no new readers. The manuscript fee was getting lower every month, and it was no longer enough to sustain my life.

But my professional ethics that are not commensurate with my status as a street fighter made me unable to work.

A long novel is inherently more difficult to write as you go to the end. Every word written at the beginning is a restriction on the rest of the novel. The further you go into the later stages, the more you feel like walking a tightrope.

In everyone's opinion, the back of this book is not as good as the front, and there are fewer and fewer updates... The dog author is getting worse and worse and lazier as he writes.

In my opinion, it is harder to write when I have 4,000 words per day in the later period than when I was working on 10,000 words per day in the early stage. Even after writing, fewer and fewer people will read it. It is thankless to post a chapter and have it be deleted once.

So I was in a lot of trouble in the later stages of writing, and I had to face the financial pressure brought about by the decline in royalties.

A chapter of 4,000 words is updated every day, the number of subscribers is less than 100, and the royalties are less than ten yuan. To be honest, I have no money to pay off the mortgage next month.

To say this is not to say that it was a poor performance, but to put it another way, the royalties were still decent when I was recommended in the intervening few months.

After all, I also relied on this book to rise from a first-level author to a fourth-level author.

Although the coding in the later stage was painful, fortunately, I finally finished it.

Regardless of whether everyone is satisfied or dissatisfied with the ending, I did not take things lightly. If anyone feels bad about it, it must be a problem of my ability, not my attitude.

The book was published on February 15, 2023 and completed on January 1, 2024. It took a total of ten and a half months.

Including the preparation time, it can be said that this book will be my hard work for the whole year of 2023.

At first, I had high hopes for this book. I felt that it would not be easy to become a high-quality product. I always have too much confidence and too little self-knowledge when I rush into the book.

But when I submitted the manuscript, I realized the reality. Even my old editor of the previous book didn’t submit the manuscript for me...

I submitted to several editors one after another, and all of them were rejected. At that time, I had self-doubt. Maybe my writing was really bad at the beginning.

Once people start to doubt themselves, they will start to think blindly. I had already started to revise the manuscript and was preparing to make a property panel that was popular at the time for the beginning.

Fortunately, I had only revised half a chapter when I received a reply from the last editor I submitted, Eggplant, saying that I could sign the contract.

So I deleted the content I just revised and published the book unchanged.

Writing this book was a bit of a "fight against the odds" for me.

In the past few years, things have not been going well, and I have to spend money everywhere. My income has dropped sharply since the beginning of 2022. I gritted my teeth and held on for a year, and I was in debt.

There is still no sign of recovery after 23 years. I could only give up my job in other places in April and return to my hometown to live, so that I could at least save some money on rent.

At that time, my wife and I returned home with a lot of debt, no job, and no savings. The only card I held was this book.

In the first month after the book was put on the shelves, the first order was only 220, and I don’t know how much the royalties were.

This is our only source of income.

Fortunately, although this book didn't make me rich, it didn't starve me to death either.
