Chapter 6 Spider Silk

David Orbis frowned when he heard this, not because of the contempt for him in the other party's words, but because he accurately stated the type of moon monster behind him.

Eight hundred years ago, the great sage Yeats formulated the law of stars, and divided magic into nine orders and thirteen series according to the arrangement and distribution of the stars, completely reshaping the magic foundation of Vic Continent.

The moon magic, which has always been in the gray area, has since been excluded from the new system and has become synonymous with taboo.

Today, eight hundred years later, the operation of the law of the stars is still rock solid, and the ban on moon magic has never been loosened.

Across the whole continent, except for the ascetic monks sitting in the Demon Burying Organ and the living dead in the Tower of Oblivion who are specially allowed to study the taboos from the Moon Realm, all those who study Moon Realm magic privately will be branded as heretics.

It was because of this that he was expelled from Offa University, even if he was the top genius of Offa University for fifty years.

The person in front of him can tell the type of white ringworm at a glance, which shows that he knows a thing or two about moon magic.

So he is also a heretic mage?

Thoughts flowed in David's mind, and then he asked tentatively.

"May I ask what your name is?"

"I still don't know what my name means to this era, so I don't plan to report my name for the time being, please forgive me."

What's the meaning?

What is "I don't know what it means to this era", is his name important to this era?

Although the other party's endless answer left him at a loss, the original question for his name was just to give the other party an impression that he was willing to communicate.

"So unknown gentleman, I have a proposal. If you leave here without seeing anything, I promise not to hurt you and the lady hiding behind you."

"why?"

The other party did not look at him, but kept looking at the white ringworm who was in the process of anchoring.

"You and I are both so-called heretics who have betrayed the laws of the stars. Since we are of the same kind, it is naturally better to be friends than enemies."

After he finished speaking, he stared at the other party's expression, trying to get some clues from it.

He is not afraid of confronting the person in front of him. Even if the white ringworm can't make a move at this moment, it is not even troublesome for him to deal with a mage who needs to force the flow of magic power to break the shielding barrier.

But the white ringworm has not yet completed the anchoring ceremony, and its only connection with the present world is the statue of the starving lady. If the other party is really a heretic mage who has a certain understanding of the monsters in the moon realm, if he directly attacks the statue to cut off the connection between the white ringworm and the world, then all his efforts in the past year will be in vain.

So although David didn't intend to spare the lives of these two, he had to be generous at this time.

It is not too late to kill these two after the ceremony is completed.

After listening to his explanation, the man said nothing other than the "law of the stars" in a doubtful tone, and he never even looked away from the anchoring ceremony.

   "Sir? How about my proposal?"

David saw that the other party had been paying attention to the ceremony and ignored him, so he couldn't help feeling a little anxious, so he asked again. This time there was something menacing in his voice.

"Oh…"

The other party finally turned his attention to himself.

"You two are going to die today."

For a moment, David thought that the other party guessed his plan, so he said this sentence to expose the proposal that he did not intend to fulfill.

But soon he could see from the other party's eyes that the man was just expressing his intentions.

The opponent also did not intend to let his life go.

A sense of humor flooded into his heart, and then it turned into a smile that could not be concealed.

"Hahahaha... You really dare to say it."

He looked at the man with a big laugh, unable to hide his killing intent any longer.

"I don't understand, why are you unwilling to let yourself live for a while longer, why are you so eager to seek death?"

David said, slowly pointing the lead-colored staff in his hand at the person in front of him, and then at the woman behind him.

"Is it because of the lady behind you? She is the survivor of the previous archaeological team? Or is it because you are too confident that you can just kill one or two demons and break the barrier set up outside..."

   "What enchantment?"

The other party suddenly asked, and there was confusion in his voice.

"It's the shielding barrier that you broke with the flow of magic power before you came here, don't you remember?"

   David's tone was also puzzled.

   "Is there such a thing?"

The other party's expression was full of confusion, and it didn't look like he was lying.

   This made David really wary.

Wasn't he the one who destroyed the shielding barrier outside the Scar of Sorrow? But someone else?

Is that person hiding nearby? Could the jumping clown in front of you be just a bait?

David asked while watching his surroundings.

"The shielding barrier [Wall of Shadow] was set up outside. If you didn't break it, how did you find your way in?"

And after hearing his question, the other party finally showed an expression of sudden realization.

"Oh, it's that...that thing is below level 80...cough, it has no effect on people with strength above a certain level. I guess I didn't notice it and walked in like this. As for the crack, it's probably me. The enchantment effect on the armor will automatically break the barrier."

David couldn't digest the information in his words all of a sudden.

What's the meaning? For him, the barrier that could block magic casters below level 5 was broken without even noticing it?

It was as easy as breaking a few spider silks while going out.

   bluffing… Absolutely bluffing.

David thought, but for some reason there was a chill down his back.

An extremely ridiculous idea appeared in his mind,

The opponent is very strong, stronger than him.

   But it should be impossible.

He glanced back at the ritual that was drawing to a close.

In the etheric domain, he could clearly feel a pale and dirty comet falling into the depths of his soul.

This shambling demon from the illusory lunar realm will soon be anchored in the world through his soul.

He has to buy some more time.

But this time, it was no longer because he was worried that the other party would destroy the altar, making his hard preparations for a year come to nothing. But he was a little unsure whether he could kill the magic caster who couldn't see the depth in front of him.

Need to wait for the ritual of white ringworm to complete, and shoot with it.

As the family of the rotten lady, if the Staggering Demon can successfully come to this world, even if there are strong masters in the master field, they need to avoid its edge.

Thinking of this, David intends to continue stalling through the conversation.

"Then I would like to ask again, what is the reason why you came here to fight us? Is it for..."

"I know you're stalling for time."

The magic caster with white hair and silver eyes interrupted him.

"You want to wait for the Staggering Demon's Anchoring Ritual to complete, it doesn't matter, I am also waiting for its Ritual to complete."

The other party's words made David take a step back unconsciously.

"If it is not anchored in the soul of the evoker, then it can only rely on the disgusting statue to come to life. But the movement on my side may be a little big later, in case the statue is accidentally broken, That staggering demon will have to obediently go back to its Moon Realm home."

   This is not good.

said a man who was unwilling to report his name.

"As for the reason why you asked me to be your enemy, although I know you just want to delay time, I think it's okay to answer by the way."

Looking at the look in his eyes, David swallowed.

"Because you are an evoker, it is a moon monster, and the ruins not far away are the Dusk Fortress. As a reason, this is enough."

When the other party finished saying this, the pale and filthy comet in the etheric domain just happened to completely submerge into the depths of David's soul, and the surging magic power began to rush in his own blood.

A strange feeling that mycelium is growing in my body also began to emerge.

The    anchoring ceremony is complete.

White ringworm let out a long whistle behind David, and the rusted short knife in his hand quickly covered with dark green lines.

The distorted mass of flesh on its body also began to grow and separate, and when it fell to the ground, it wriggled and deformed, growing out of it long limbs and a huge head, and eventually became a new sub-magic.

White Ringworm stepped forward, holding the short knife that exudes a rotten breath, and looked down at the magic caster and said solemnly.

"Bloody bug, tell me, how do you want to die?"
