Hogwarts Outsider

Chapter 6: Mystery book

There is no doubt that the witch with glasses in "Wonderful Zoo" was right at the time.

The toad bought by Matthew is noisier than expected; since returning to Room 13 of the Broken Cauldron Bar, its screams have hardly stopped.

In this situation, it is almost impossible to stay in the room.

Finally, Matthew came up with a way to hang the glass box with toads on the balcony of the room, then close the windows, and the whole world was instantly quiet.

It was almost noon, he walked out of the room and ate a simple lunch downstairs.

Obviously this lunch was not a pleasant one, because he was sitting next to a weird man who almost wrapped his whole body in a thick woolen coat (you know it is August now). From the appearance of the other person, he looks a lot like a "Old Witch".

The "old witch" ordered a plate of **** live pig liver, and then opened his blood basin and gnawed with relish in front of Matthew.

Fortunately, Matthew's mental quality has always been good, and he didn't spit out what he ate before. He even finished a roasted potato in front of the other person.

climbed up the dirty and old wooden stairs again, and Matthew glanced at the other rooms on the second floor.

In addition to him, there seem to be several children who are about his age.

should be the same as him, a Muggle-born Hogwarts first-year freshman.

But Matthew was not in a hurry to "get to know" them, he went straight back to his room.

  ……

After returning to the room, Matthew first organized all the things he bought this morning, and put them in different categories.

Then, he took out the whole carton of magic textbooks that Lihen Bookstore gave him, and moved it to the wooden table.

Tear open the upper seal and take out the Hogwarts textbooks one by one.

"Standard Spell·Level 1"...... "Basic Transformation Guide"...... "Black Magic · Self-Defense Guide"......

These textbooks are almost the same as the original Harry Potter books in memory.

There are four quill pens...two bottles of black ink and one bottle of red ink...a large stack of letter paper...

   Suddenly, Matthew Wickfield's movements stopped.

Because he found that at the bottom of the carton, there is another thing——

   is another book.

It is not thick, and the cover is definitely not more than half an inch (note: about 1.77cm), which is much thinner than any previous Hogwarts textbook.

The appearance of the book shows a simple texture. The paper is slightly yellowed from the side, and it is probably something of a certain age.

The cover and back cover of the book are made of a strange kind of leather, which makes people look creepy.

The whole book, for some reason, gives people an indescribable feeling.

Matthew was stunned, and told him intuitively that this thing in front of him might be dangerous...

"What the **** is this?" He frowned and retracted his hand frozen in midair.

reached into his pocket and took out the previously crumpled list of parchment.

carefully compared it again, and what was written on the list was the same as what was just taken out of the carton.

There is no omission, the strange book at the bottom of the carton is not on the list; that is, it shouldn’t be here at all.

Matthew did not act rashly. He did not even take the initiative to touch the book of unknown origin, because he had not forgotten that he was in a magical world now.

Even an ordinary diary may contain the consciousness of a powerful dark wizard, enough to manipulate the wizard who tries to use it...not to mention the mysterious book in front of you, as if the face is full of "danger". word.

Matthew took a deep breath, and finally decided to make a more careful choice.

He gently rang the housekeeper's bell in the room.

One minute later, the door of the room was knocked and then opened.

A hunched figure appeared at the door of the room. It was the barkeeper Tom who was thin and shriveled and had all teeth.

"Mr. Wickfield, do you have any orders?" He grinned and asked, even though his smile was rather ugly.

"Excuse me, sir." Matthew said, "Can you help me throw this carton and its contents into the trash can?"

He pointed to the carton with the Lihen Bookstore logo on it.

"I am happy to help you!" said the bar owner.

He walked into the room and picked up the cardboard box.

Looking at the hunched old man, he took the cardboard box and the contents out of the room together, and then walked down the stairs.

Matthew suddenly felt relieved, as if there was some fatal danger away from him.

  ……

In the afternoon and evening, Matthew was in the room, flipping through the textbooks at Hogwarts.

Although I don’t have a magic wand on hand, I can only talk about it on paper, and I can’t put it into practice.

But even a cursory flip can reveal some clues.

Magic is not what I had imagined before. It only needs to wave a wand stupidly and shout a few Latin words.

It also involves the control of emotions, the mastery of subjective consciousness, and complex gestures that change according to different situations...

In short, it is much more difficult to master a magic skill than the Muggles in previous lives had imagined.

Until the bell rang eleven in the middle of the night, Matthew put down the copy of "A Thousand Magic Herbs and Mushrooms" in his hand. UU reading www.uukanshu.com

   It's time to rest.

But before going to bed and turning off the lights, Matthew remembered one thing.

That is his new pet. The toad that he bought this morning is still hanging on the balcony outside the window.

It's time to get it back.

Speaking of it, he hasn't even named the pet yet...or just call it "excited" for the sake of how happy it screamed before.

While thinking nonsense, Matthew smiled, opened the window, and took the small glass box hanging on the balcony.

Toad’s screams no longer recalled. It seems that the little guy may have adapted to the environment here.

The light green fire of the fireplace slightly illuminates the small glass box in Matthew's hand.

The smile on the boy's face solidified in an instant.

Poor Toad didn't scream, and he would never scream again.

It lay flat in the glass box, with its white belly facing the sky, and its dark eye sockets formed two huge bulges...

no longer move, no longer tweet, no life.

Obviously, it has been dead for a long time.

"How could it..." Matthew muttered to himself. What surprised him most was not the death of Toad, but—

Just under Toad's body, he saw a book.

A book that is almost impossible to exist in this glass box.

appeared inexplicably at the bottom of the carton in Lihen Bookstore, and then asked the barkeeper Tom to throw away the mysterious book together with the carton.

The sky outside the window suddenly turned into a cold black-gray; a crimson moonlight shone through the window on the floor of Room 13 of the Broken Cauldron Bar.
