LOL: Summoner of Goddess Janna

Chapter 7 Victor's Silence

Victor looked at ten lines at a glance, and quickly read Lena's thesis outline.

According to the review process, he needs to exchange "answer sheets" with Jess, and after reading the outlines of Lina and Kaya's papers, they will give their opinions together.

So, Kaya came to Victor with her thesis.

Lena nervously walked over to Jess and handed over the open notebook:

"Professor Jess, this is my thesis design."

"Yeah." Jess took the notebook. Like Victor just now, he casually asked Lena:

"May I have your name?"

"Lena."

"What about the last name?"

"I don't have a surname." Lena secretly glanced at Victor at the side, and said in a confident tone, "My name is Lena."

"Oh?" Jess really understood: "Are you from Zaun?"

"Yes." Lina nodded frankly.

"It's really from Zaun..." Jess looked at her delicate and weak face, and couldn't help boasting: "Student Lina, you don't look like one at all."

Lena: "..."

You don't look like a Zaun-

If it was in the past, she would have thought it was a compliment from the people of Piltover.

But after reading Li Wei's article, and hearing such a compliment now, for some reason, she just felt uncomfortable.

And Jace didn't notice it.

He just picked up the notebook step by step and reviewed Lena's thesis design.

a moment later...

"Victor, what do you think?" Jess frowned slightly, and turned to exchange ideas with Victor.

The final result was finally coming out, both Lina and Kaya couldn't help holding their breath nervously.

But Victor's answer was: "Each has its own problems, and it's hard to tell which is better."

"Well..." Jess nodded, "I think so too."

"The thesis outlines of the two of them are almost at the same level, and they were completed almost at the same time. It is really difficult to distinguish between good and bad."

But there is only one member of the research group.

"That?" Miss Kaya asked with concern.

She, Lena, and even Victor subconsciously looked at Jess.

Because everyone knows that Jess is the leader of the research team, and the final decision rests with Jess.

"I think..."

Jess glanced over Lena and Kaya one by one.

The scene was so quiet that one could hear a heartbeat.

Those students who had given up on the assessment also looked over with concern.

Finally, Jess gave his answer:

"I think Kaya is more suitable for our research group."

"If there is no other student who can submit the outline design, then she will be the winner this time."

The scene was silent, and no one came to the stage again.

Obviously, the outcome has been decided.

Lina's face turned pale in an instant.

She muttered at the corner of her mouth and wanted to say something, but looking at the high-spirited Kaya Ferros, she finally closed her mouth unwillingly.

What can I say?

If her dissertation design can be significantly better than Kaya, then maybe there is a glimmer of hope.

Now that the performances of the two are almost the same, is there any need to think about who Professor Jess will choose?

The eldest lady of Piltover, the native girl of Zaun, everyone knows how to choose.

Not only Lina, but even the other people present, especially the international students from Zaun, seemed to have expected Kaya's victory, and there was no surprise in each of them.

No one questioned Jace's judgment.

Everyone accepted it naturally.

Only Victor frowned slightly. But he hesitated for a long time, but in the end he didn't say anything.

Instead, Jess explained his own judgment first:

"I chose Kaya mainly because...Although her and Lina's thesis design is hard to distinguish, if I have to compare, I think Lina's design is more flawed."

"She only thought of determining the operating point of the engine and generator according to the optimal braking fuel consumption rate curve of the steam robot, but this operating point only means that the engine has the highest fuel/effective output mechanical power conversion efficiency at that point. And For the energizers discussed in this question, it is generally desirable to operate the engine and generator at the operating point with the highest fuel-to-electricity conversion efficiency..."

Jess's clear and detailed analysis convinced all the students present.

Unknowingly, that strange look disappeared.

The students were all listening to the class carefully, and the subtle atmosphere changed accordingly.

Even Lina herself had no choice but to accept this failure convincingly.

She believed that it was because of her lack of strength that Professor Jess made such a judgment.

"Student Kaya...Congratulations."

Distraught, Lena surrenders to her nemesis.

As for how proud Kaya's smile was, how she followed Professor Jess in high spirits, and left the classroom with her new teacher...

Lina didn't even have the energy to look at it.

She just sat under the podium dejectedly, constantly reflecting on her previous mistakes.

If she could think more carefully and not make the mistake pointed out by Professor Jess... Maybe, maybe she still has a chance... But why didn't she think about it!

"Don't blame yourself too much, classmate Lina."

Suddenly, a deep male voice sounded in the ears.

Lena raised her head, but she saw Victor with a cane:

"Professor Victor, you...you haven't left yet?"

"I left, but I came back." Victor put down his cane and sat down slowly in front of her: "I want to tell you something. I think you should know about this."

"What's up?"

"I don't blame you for this failure." Victor's tone was complicated: "Although the mistakes that Jess pointed out to you do exist."

"But the same level of mistakes is not absent in Kaya's thesis design."

"Her experimental design of an optimization strategy to reduce engine transient conditions is a disaster... If you have to compare design flaws, I don't think you are worse."

"This..." Lina's body was trembling slightly.

Although Victor said it very implicitly, she still heard it:

Her thesis design is no worse than Kaya's!

She didn't lose...at least, she didn't lose in terms of strength.

"Why, Professor Jess..." Lina hesitated to speak. She still dare not say. It's useless to say.

But Victor said it for her pointingly:

"Jess is a pure scientist and a fair and good man."

"But...he grew up in Piltover after all."

Victor sighed helplessly, and stopped here.

The Jess Tallis he knew was certainly not the kind of person who would give up his principles in order to cling to power.

At least not now.

Jess definitely chose Kaya not because of the fame of the Pheros family, but because of his interests with the Pheros family.

But he... for some reason, subconsciously ruled out Lena.

And this reason is something that Jess himself can't realize at all.

But Victor knew it—he'd experienced it many times over the years he'd worked with Jace.

"It's because..." Lina realized something unwillingly: "Am I from Zaun?"

"Sorry." Victor couldn't bear it.

After getting this answer, Lena's face turned even paler.

She was stunned for a long time, but finally pulled herself together:

"Professor Victor, you have nothing to be sorry for... I should thank you."

"Thank you..." Victor was silent.

What is there to thank him for?

He could have questioned Jace's decision before, but he didn't say anything.

Why? In the usual scientific research, he had disagreements with Jess.

Why are you afraid to speak now?

Because of...

"I'm still that Zaunian... It's been more than ten years, and I'm still like this."

Zaun people are used to silence.

Victor's expression gradually changed.

His eyes were quietly firm, his hands clenched his cane, and he stood up slowly supporting his frail body:

"Student Lina, give me your notebook."

"Huh?" Lina raised her head unexpectedly.

"I'll take it back and discuss the research with everyone in the research team." Victor promised firmly, "As long as everyone recognizes your strength, maybe I can get an extra spot for you."

Lina's eyes lit up when she heard that.

She immediately took out the notebook in a hurry, and solemnly handed it to Victor.

"Professor Victor, thank you..." She was a little incoherent: "Thank you!"

Victor accepted Lena's thanks frankly this time.

He carefully put the notebook in his arms, then leaned on his cane to bid farewell to her, turned and left.

Lena looked at his back gratefully, watching Victor gradually go away.

"Hey, wait..." But after the excitement, she finally thought of something belatedly:

"That notebook!"

When she gave the notebook to Victor and Jess for review before, she turned the notebook to the page of the thesis outline in advance, and handed it in when she was ready. So the two professors only saw what she wrote.

But in that notebook, there is more than just the outline of the thesis.

At the beginning of the notebook, there is also written the article by Li Wei - "Zuan, where did you come from?"

"If this article is seen by the professors..."

Lina struggled nervously again:

"Should be all right?"
