Lord of Spells from Faerûn

Chapter 57 Pale Mage

Trolls, at least dozens of trolls, were raging in Waterdeep.

I don’t know what channel the Sanasa Guild used to bring these trolls into the city, but this move obviously angered various forces in the city.

Imric flew all the way and saw no fewer than dozens of professionals taking action to fight these trolls. The turmoil caused by these ugly green creatures could last for a while at most.

He hurried to the port area, which was the only entrance to the Zanaza Guild's lair that he knew.

Sure enough, the trolls in the port area were more densely distributed than in other places, and these trolls probably came from here.

Suddenly, he saw the bald old dwarf who had witnessed Fulen's kidnapping late at night, holding a magic wand and cooperating with the trolls to attack the city guards, accompanied by a pale man in a robe.

"Scorching hot wire!" The wand in the old dwarf's hand lit up with a burst of red light, and three blazing lasers shot out from it. The city guard who was targeted was shocked and rolled to the side, but one of the lasers still pierced his thigh.

"Ah!" The injured city guard clutched his thigh and crawled as far as he could. A priest in a white robe squatted down next to him, and his hands emitted warm white light: "Heal the serious injury."

The guard's wound improved instantly, he picked up the sword and started fighting the troll again.

Imric stood in the distance and observed the battlefield. Ten warriors and one priest faced off against four trolls and two mages.

After some consideration, Imrik decided to take action. He felt that these city guards probably couldn't defeat each other, and it was unrealistic to just sit back and enjoy the gains. It would be more reliable to capture the two mages alive with their help.

He wiped his face with his hand, activated his magical disguise, then triggered the invisibility spell and disappeared into the air.

"Fireball!".

Just as everyone was fighting, a strange chanting sound suddenly came. At the same time, a black-robed mage appeared, and an apple-sized fireball condensed in his hand.

To deal with these trolls, the fireball technique is the most convenient. Imrik sighed in his heart and threw the fireball technique in his hand into the middle of the trolls.

The fireball hit a troll, and violent flames exploded with the shock wave. The raging flames swallowed up the two trolls. Even their super recovery power could not stop them from rolling and wailing on the ground.

Although the remaining two trolls were not smart, they were still frightened and took a few steps back when they saw the flames brought by the fireball technique.

The old dwarf and the mysterious mage stared at the sudden appearance of Imrik with ugly expressions. Originally, the battlefield was tilted towards them. A priest who lacked fire and acid magic and ten warriors were no match for four trolls.

But things are different now. A mysterious mage who can use fireball poses a huge threat.

The two looked at each other and made spell-casting gestures, preparing to deal with this most difficult mage.

The first one to bear the brunt was the old dwarf. He repeated his old trick and used his wand to shoot three scorching rays. However, Imric, who had a secondary energy damage resistance ring, simply ignored the damage of this second-level spell.

Three scorching rays hit the black-robed mage, and a wave of transparent ripples appeared on the surface of the mage's body, swallowing up the power of the spell.

Another mysterious mage saw that the scorching ray was not effective and knew that the opponent was blessed with a spell to resist energy damage, so he cast the spell with the highest single-target damage among the three-ring spells: "Lightning Beam!"

A thick bolt of lightning shot from the mage's hand towards Imrik, but Imrik's figure had already disappeared into the silver mist and was teleported thirty feet away.

"Black light!" Imrik pointed in the distance, and black mist erupted around the two mages, swallowing their figures. The black mist that made them invisible completely blocked their vision.

"Damn it, I can't see it!" The two mages looked around nervously.

The pale man chanted a spell, and a green light glowed on his hand: "Vampire's touch!"

He looked around with all his attention, and if there was any movement, he would immediately extend his magic to the opponent.

Imric looked at the two mages through the blessing of dark vision, and thought of a plan. He raised his hand, and huge spiritual energy gathered.

Mysterious psychic energy penetrated the pale man's mind, modifying his hearing.

Level 3 power - fake feelings.

"Fireball!" He suddenly heard the voice of the black-robed mage chanting a spell next to him. He smiled cruelly, stretched his hands towards the opponent, and grabbed the opponent's neck.

The chanting stopped, and only the black-robed mage called for help intermittently: "Let me go."

The pale man was unmoved. Although he felt that the size of the neck in his hand was too small, the black-robed mage's voice asking for help made him think nothing of it. He just continued to absorb the opponent's life force through the vampire's touch.

"Bang." The pale man didn't let go until the other party stopped struggling, and the body fell to the ground with a slight sound.

The black light technique also disappeared at this time. The pale man couldn't believe it when he saw the corpse on the ground. It turned out to be an old dwarf!

"How... how is it possible! You lied to me! Damn it!" The pale man gritted his teeth and turned his head, only to see Imric smiling and raising a hand towards him: "Actoplasmic Cocoon."

Silks of silver-white astral matter continued to emerge from the void, binding the pale man tightly, leaving only a mouth exposed.

But Imrik was not worried. Without his hands to make spell-casting gestures, the mage could not cast spells at all.

After taking care of the mage, he turned around and shot two Mayouf acid arrows, helping the city guards take care of the remaining two trolls.

Before the city guards and priests could come over to thank him, he grabbed the tied mage and flew into the air and left.

If he stays, this hostage cannot be saved. Those city guards must be eager to pry open his mouth to know the truth about the attack.

It was Imric's selfish intention to keep this mage. He didn't want too many people to pay attention to the beholder. If the treasure was known to too many people because of the beholder, the gain would outweigh the loss.

Flying to an uninhabited corner, Imric stopped. The mage blinded by the ectoplasmic cocoon felt the flight stop and shouted angrily: "Damn it! Where have you taken me? What do you want? ? If you dare to hurt me, my mistress will not spare you!"

"Your mistress? That beholder?" Imrik said with a smile.

He ordered the ectoplasmic cocoon to expose the mage's eyes, activated the suggestion technique and asked: "Tell me why you planned this attack."

The pale man's eyes were dull for a moment, but after a while they became clear. He went back and forth, and finally succumbed to the power of the spell and replied dully: "The mistress is angry and can't find the Gorol Stone. I asked Trolls go out into the streets to kill for her pleasure, and they also attack the Wujin family to get rid of that group of troublesome people.”

Imrik's eyes narrowed, and the Wujin family was also attacked.

"Tell me how powerful that beholder is and how to find her." Imrik continued to ask.

"The mistress is an adult beholder. There is no professional level mistress in the lair." The pale man told Imrik the path to the beholder's lair.
