Yan Senior Brother did not say anything wrong. After the experiment officially started, the emitted particle beam was basically stable below 5GeV. The signal captured by the ATLAS detector is basically concentrated between the energy regions of 1-10GeV.

Occasionally, one or two special cases appear outside the upper limit of the 10GeV energy zone, but they do not deviate too far.

In such cases, 750GeV data is naturally not generated.

But with such a result, it is impossible to convince Lu Zhou that there is something in the 750GeV energy zone.

The experiment lasted for a whole day.

Probably at 12 o’clock in the morning, there was a cheer in the CERN headquarters dozens of kilometers away.

From the data fed back by the various detectors, the five quark-state particle confidence captured in the eye has broken through 5sigma, and all the evidence shows that the five quark state particles have been discovered!

Although everyone has expected this for a long time, those speculative things are far from being more exciting when this moment really happens.

Generally speaking, the quark that is divided in the collider is either a “quark-antiquark” pair similar to K meson and π meson, or a “three quark state” composed of protons and neutrons. As for the single quark state, since the quark is bound by the strong force of the color charge, the single quark state particle is not allowed to exist.

However, quantum chromodynamics does not prohibit the existence of singular states such as “four quark states” and “five quark states.”

Over the years, major high-energy physics laboratories have been searching for these “singular states” on various colliders.

If these mavericks are not found, it proves that our standard model may have loopholes, and quantum chromodynamics may not be correct.

However, once these singularities are discovered, confidence in the entire theoretical Physics community will be a great boost!

According to CERN’s consistent urine, almost the second day after the end of the experiment, I couldn’t wait to send an invitation to reporters waiting in Geneva to hold a very high-profile press conference.

Standing in front of the media reporters, CERN’s spokesperson announced the news in an excited tone.

“…we succeeded in discovering the five quark state particles, which is another great victory for the standard model! We are once again convinced that the path we have chosen is correct!”

Unsurprisingly, the discovery of the five-quark state particles will be the most significant research result of this year’s Physics, covering the rays of light of all other research results.

In the midst of a surge of applause, CERN’s press conference ended, followed by a large number of media reports on the discovery of the sky and covering the earth.

However, for the Physics students gathered here, the real work has only just begun.

In order to better reveal the physics properties of the five quark-state particles, the LHCb International Cooperation Group assigned missions to researchers in various countries to perform full-spectrum analysis of newly discovered particles.

After the mission was assigned, the research team of Academician Lu was also involved in this work.

However, compared to the previous data of the “Joint Inspection” B1 partition with Syracuse University, the mission of this time is not so tight in terms of time schedule, and can even be said to be quite loose.

Later, Lu Zhou asked Yan Senior Brother to know that this thing is different from the previous thesis. Every one of the “the full spectrum analysis” will be signed by all the researchers.

There are too many co-authors, the gold content of thesis is infinitely weakened, and everyone is working on each other. There is no subject collision, and no one needs to compare with anyone. Naturally, no one is so anxious. According to the workload assigned to each team, it takes more than one month to get all the work done.

Sitting in the hotel’s conference room, Lu Zhou said on the A4 paper, while in a chattering voice, said to the strict Senior Brother who was sitting next to him.

“Thousands of signatures… When I think of thesis that I am about to finish, I will be tagged with more than a thousand names, and even more than half of the names will be in front of me. My enthusiasm for this job will be reduced. A little bit.”

“It’s like this for CERN. It’s such a place that will be a smash, so I don’t recommend you here. Although our work is equally great, the Nobel Prize cannot be sent to witness every history. People…” Strict Senior Brother yawned and put the pen down and stretched out. “Isn’t going to play billiards at night?”

Lu Zhou thought about it and shook his head. “No, I am looking for a Greer Professor. I will go to the office of the R2 building in a while.”

The last time he was on the scene, the Greer Professor promised him that after the experiment was over, he would take time to help him sort out the data collected during the test channel.

Just now, he received an email from Greer, saying that the data had been sorted out and he was taken to the office with a USB flash drive.

Although it took less than a long time to copy the data, Lu Zhou is ready to use the leisure time at night to study this data well.

After all, during the day, I’m busy with the Lu’s project, and I can only use it for weekends and evenings.

Strictly, the Senior Brother saw Lu Zhou’s thought at a glance: “Don’t tell me it was the last time.”

Lu Zhou: “You guessed it.”

Yan Senior Brother, a defeated expression, sighed said: “Well, I admire your attachment… Although I want to say that you are doing nothing.”

Lu Zhou laughed said: “Is it useless? How do you know if you don’t try?”

No way, others are like this, when doing mathematics, it’s the same when it comes to physics.

For the characteristic peaks that appear in 750GeV, he is still very interested until now.

Although both the Yan Brother and the Greer Professor said that the flat protrusion is not called a characteristic peak, the probability is probably just a two-photon signal, and even a collision does not necessarily occur. Because the energy it carries is so exaggerated, even five times that of Higgs particles!

However, Lu Zhou does not think so.

The number 750GeV may seem to be “heavy”, but that doesn’t mean there is no possibility.

Investigating the frontiers of any subject requires imagination, and the bulge of this suspected feature peak, in Lu Zhou’s view, already has room for imagination.

Even in the eyes of two experts who focus on quantum chromodynamics, this phenomenon is contrary to “common sense” and has no research value. But the common sense of Physics is not applicable to researchers born to Lu Zhou, a mathematics.

What is the development of quantum chromodynamics?

Isn’t it by subverting “common sense”?

It doesn’t matter if it’s wrong, right is an attempt without cost of failure.

After dinner, Lu Zhou took a trip to the R2 building, and the Greer Professor was waiting for him in the office.

“The data you want is in this U disk, including the data collected on the CMS detector. I also helped you with one. But to be honest, this data is useless. We only do collisions with the 1TeV energy zone. In less than an hour, in addition to testing the sensitivity of each detector, this thing has no useful experimental results.”

Lu Zhou: “Thank you… I just want to satisfy my curiosity. I want to try it out whether I use it or not.”

“Curious?” Greer Professor laughed and gave him an encouraging look. “Then I wish you good luck.”
