Spoiling History: Starting from the Three Kingdoms

Chapter 217 Li Tang’s Family Matters

God general!

Li Shimin fell in love with this title when he watched Zhang Yichao's life.

He even privately wrote a copybook of Dunhuang's legendary generals in ancient times, but it was a pity that he could not recruit Zhang Yunchao to expand the territory of the Tang Dynasty.

And now this Wang Zhongsi can be said to be in line with Li Shimin's taste in every aspect.

After being loyal and brave, be cautious in using troops, bold in strategy, and don't take credit for yourself.

Although Xuanzong could not avoid the Anshi Rebellion with such a famous general, but... he should at least avoid many disasters, right?

Taking a deep breath, at least not having to see An Lushan for the time being made Li Shimin feel a lot better.

As for the weird last sentence of Guangmu, Li Shimin's heart tightened slightly:

Could it be that Wang Zhongsi also died young like Huo Qubing?

But it's too far to worry about these things now, so let's put it down for a while.

Li Shimin looked at the top sentence of the text copied by Du Ruhui:

In the early Tang Dynasty...the God of War?

Who is Su Dingfang?

Regarding Li Jing, Li Shimin was not surprised. Li Shi𪟝 could only be said to be expected, but the other name that he had never seen before made him a little confused.

So Li Shimin looked at the two generals for help.

At this time, Hou Junji's smile could no longer be maintained, but he still tried his best to give Li Jing a hand.

Li Jing was mature and prudent, and smiled very reservedly:

This achievement of Su Dingfang was promoted by His Majesty himself.

Oh? Li Shimin briefly recalled that he was familiar with Li Jing and had participated in the war in recent years...

Those reports of meritorious service and battle reports that Li Shimin personally set the rewards for were recalled.

Soon a name came to mind:

Su Lie?

It's Su Lie.

Li Jing confirmed:

At Yinshan Mountain, Su Lie was the vanguard. He personally led two hundred cavalry to climb up first and break Jie Liya's tent.

Now Li Shimin completely remembered:

After the war, he achieved first-level merit and was awarded the title of Zuo Wuhou Zhonglang General.

At the same time, I also remembered Su Lie's official position before he was awarded the title: Captain Zhechong of Kuangdao Prefecture.

So Li Shimin sighed:

Such a famous general is by your side and cannot be used? He will be summoned in person when the meeting at Manlu Palace is over.

No wonder Li Shimin is so anxious. Where is Kuang Dao Mansion? The four streets in the southwest corner of Chang'an City are called Kuang Daofu.

There are two tombs here, one for Wei Zifu and one for Prince Ru.

Taking such a position under the nose of Chang'an City, to put it bluntly, is not much different from sweeping the streets.

Then contacting Su Lie's former general Liu Heitai, Li Shimin made a logical guess:

In the history of the light curtain, Su Lie would probably remain in this idle state of sweeping the streets for ten years.

But today is different from the past. Now he, Li Erfeng, is busy sharpening his sword and has many places where he can display his ambitions.

As a result, Hou Junji became even more depressed, and his eyes towards Li Jing became increasingly resentful.

Zhang Fei looked at what Guangmu said about Tubo Zanpu imitating Sun Quan and retreating, and laughed out loud:

I've finally figured it out. Every time a battle involving hundreds defeats tens of thousands, the requirements are pretty much the same.

Oh? Zhao Yun looked like he was willing to hear the details and planned to learn from Zhang Fei.

Zhang Fei clasped his fingers with a serious look on his face:

With fewer soldiers, it is necessary for soldiers to forget about death and for generals to ascend first.

It's easy to have more troops. All you need is a coach like an uncle.

Zhao Yun curled his lips slightly and put down the small book he just picked up.

He thought he could really learn something, but it turned out to be an unexpected situation.

As for being called the God of War by later generations, no one in the Chengdu government office was surprised.

In this prosperous age of outstanding martial arts, it would be strange if there were not a few fierce men.

And even this Wang Zhongsi was targeting Huo Qubing?

It's a coincidence that Huo Qubing is a famous general among us men, so I don't envy him at all.

Kong Ming, on the other hand, envied the Tang army's wealth: sufficient horses, armor and weapons.

On the other hand, he was secretly worried: the tone of this light curtain was not very good.

[During Xuanzong's reign, in order to control the Jiedushi envoys, the relatives of the Jiedushi envoys were required to stay in the capital as pledges.

In exchange, the Jiedushi will return to Chang'an to serve as an official after retiring from office, and there will be different treatment according to the merits of the Jiedushi.

For this reason, the powerful Prime Minister Li Linfu's attitude towards Wang Zhongsi was hostile from the beginning. After all, with Wang Zhongsi's record, it is difficult to justify not being treated as a prime minister when he returns to Beijing after leaving office.

Then three things happened in succession, which led to the rapid fall of the Tang War God.

Incident 1: Li Linfu proposed to train Hu generals to control other Jiedushi.

Combined with Xuanzong's Jiedushi policy, it is easy to understand that the Hu people are easy to control, and returning to Beijing after resigning will not threaten the power of the prime minister. Moreover, this strategy can easily divide the power of Wang Zhongsi's four towns.

It was because of this strategy that Li Linfu and An Lushan came together.

An Lushan also started his meteoric rise with the help of Li Linfu and bribery offensive.

Event 2: The Shibao City slander case.

Shibao City is an important military town in Hexi. Tang and Tubo have been fighting over this place for many years. Xuanzong wanted to completely control it.

Therefore, after Wang Zhongsi's rise, Xuanzong ordered Wang Zhongsi to capture Shibao City by force. However, Wang Zhongsi judged that it was not time to capture Shibao City yet, so Shangshu dissuaded him.

In 747, Dong Yanguang took the initiative to request to attack Shibao City. Xuanzong agreed and ordered Wang Zhongsi to take over.

However, as Wang Zhongsi had previously judged, Shibao City was easy to defend but difficult to attack at this time. Dong Yanguang failed to capture it after the deadline. Shangshu falsely accused Wang Zhongsi of delaying the dispatch of troops in order to encourage the invaders to respect themselves.

This alone was certainly not enough to overthrow Wang Zhongsi, so Li Linfu had been prepared.

Event three: Prince slander case.

After killing the prince by the way in the achievement of Killing Three Sons in One Day in 737, Xuanzong hesitated for a while about who to appoint as the new prince.

The candidates at that time were Shou Wang Li Xuan and Zhong Wang Li Yu. However, considering that Yang Yuhuan was the Shou Wang Concubine, Li Longji looked a little embarrassed.

As a result, Li Yu, who was disliked by everyone, was finally made the prince and changed his name to Li Heng. He can also be said to be the most useless prince in history.

Xuanzong didn't like him, so Li Linfu and Gao Lishi could attack him arbitrarily.

Even An Lushan, a Hu general, could step on him to please Xuanzong.

By the way, this was also one of the reasons why An Lushan rebelled, because he was afraid that Li Heng would be liquidated after he came to power.

Xuanzong himself was naturally on guard against such a prince.

In 744, Prince Li Heng was suspected of having a secret meeting with a general. Xuanzong was furious and the related generals were executed.

In 747, when Dong Yanguang framed Wang Zhongsi for the Shibao City slander case, Li Linfu keenly sensed that the opportunity had come!

Under his instruction, Jiyang Biejia Wei Lin jumped out and claimed that when he was serving as the governor of Shuozhou, his boss Wang Zhongsi, the governor of Hedong, said personally:

In his early years, he lived with King Zhong in the palace and was willing to respect the prince.

In the end, Xuanzong was furious, summoned Wang Zhongsi to the court, and ordered the Third Division to interrogate him severely. Wang Zhongsi was almost tortured to death.

Ge Shuhan, who took over the post of Wang Zhongsi's Longyou Jiedu envoy, wrote a letter to support Wang Zhongsi. In the end, Wang Zhongsi saved his life and was demoted to the prefect of Hanyang. He died suddenly two years later at the age of forty-five.

When Wang Zhongsi was in Hexi, he concurrently served as the military governor of the four towns of Hedong, Hexi, Longyou, and Shuofang, with a direct force of 250,000 troops under his command.

And starting from 744, Wang Zhongsi continued to criticize Xuanzong and bitterly told An Lushan of his betrayal, but Xuanzong never looked at it.

They are both adopted sons of Xuanzong, and they also hold heavy troops.

Wang Zhongsi was loyal and had outstanding achievements, and was famous for thousands of miles west of Hexi. However, he died violently due to slander.

An Lushan's clever words and flattery failed to achieve any merit, Hebei bought the military morale, and finally raised an army to rebel against the Tang Dynasty.

It has to be said that Li Jiasanlang's death was all his own fault and he could not blame anyone else at all. 】

Kong Ming's eyebrows completely raised, feeling completely incomprehensible:

Killing three sons in one day? One of them even included the prince?

This Li Tang court is really...

Kong Ming kept shaking his head and found a relatively peaceful word:

Incredible.

Fazheng on the side was already taking stock with great interest:

Two adopted sons, one was forced to death and the other rebelled.

Of the five parents and children known so far, three were killed, one son's daughter-in-law was robbed, and the one who was made the prince was arbitrarily bullied.

This rebellious adopted son can come and stay in the harem at will, and can build a mansion with great fanfare...

Fazheng pinched his fingers until the end and looked gloating:

Among the seven sons, the most loyal and capable one died the most miserably.

To outsiders like us, An Lushan looks like his own son!

The obstacles to the rebellion were all swept away by Xuanzong himself. This is so ridiculous and unprecedented!

After finishing speaking, Fazheng was still shaking his head and laughing, as if he had watched an excellent actor's drama.

Zhang Fei curled his lips, feeling that this family except Wang Zhongsi looked unappetizing, so he simply echoed Fa Zheng:

As Xiaozhi said, if An Lushan doesn't rebel, he will really be sorry for Xuanzong's painstaking efforts.

Even Liu Bei sighed:

Other emperors are afraid that the prince will not become talented, but Xuanzong is afraid that his adopted son will not rebel.

After saying that, he let it go and immediately noticed some problems:

This Li Linfu is called the Prime Minister...it doesn't sound like a good name.

Xu Shu shook his head:

The appearance of wielding power can be imagined.

In order to avoid the retiring Jiedushi envoy from fighting for power, he vigorously supported the generals and colluded with An Lushan's people.

If there was no such proposal, the Anshi Rebellion, or...

Xu Shu didn't know much about the situation, and it was difficult to judge. In the end, he could only shake his head:

If you are foolish and try to tamper with power, you will bring it upon yourself.

However, Zhang Song did the math on the side and interjected:

A pure and good man like Wang Zhongsi could lead four towns and command 250,000 soldiers and horses. This shows that there are at least seven or eight military governors in the Tang Dynasty.

There are about 60,000 troops in one town. Based on this calculation, if the Jiedu envoys work together, it should not be difficult to put down this chaos.

Zhao Yun shook his head:

According to Zi Qiao's calculations, the Tang Jiedu envoy's troops should number 500,000, and this Hu general has 30% of the world's troops.

Thirty percent of the troops and horses are all under one man's control. The other four or five military governors are in charge of the troops and horses, and the emperor controls them.

If we were to face each other, it would be difficult to win.

What Zhao Yun said was quite embarrassing for the Tang Dynasty, and Zhang Song also understood it.

Whether the Jiedu envoys can work together is a problem. There is also a fatuous emperor above them.

Moreover, the emperor had just been betrayed by his adopted son and military governor, would he be suspicious of other military governors?

Therefore, it seems that Emperor Tang's side has the advantage in terms of military strength, but in fact it is only about 50 to 50.

And he has to ask for the Tang Emperor... Zhang Song was not confident and asked himself:

This Xuanzong shouldn't cut off his own arms, right?
