The Evil God of Hogwarts

Chapter 5 Spider’s Kiss

A familiar feeling emerged in Xing Ze's heart. He picked up the wine glass and smelled it. It was also mead, and it also had a faint fishy smell.

It's strange. Could it be that he is not the only target of the wrong party? Xing Ze frowned, and things became more complicated.

After continuing to observe for a while, he picked up a small silver stick on the dining table. The stick was about the same length as an ordinary straw, and one end had some wet liquid on it.

"Interesting, most people don't take that with them when taking the train, right?" Xing Ze asked.

Benson tilted his head and looked inside, nodded and said, "He also noticed the detection staff. Mr. Alan Hoffman seems to be a cautious person."

cautious? Oh, I really know how to shut up.

The silver detection staff is used to detect poisons and magic traps. It is one of the common equipment of Aurors. Ordinary wizards rarely bring this thing on the road.

On the other hand, the East Poisoner was very familiar with Mr. Allen. At least he knew that he liked mead, and he brought a detection staff with him, so he chose to use the expensive and unstoppable weapon like Spider's Kiss. Detect poison.

"We should interrogate Lady Rebecca and the house elf of her leg to see who has been in contact with the alcohol supply along the way." Xing Ze suggested.

Then he used his wand to open the briefcase that had fallen to the ground and inspected the contents.

The Invisible Stretching Charm can only be used with the approval of the Ministry of Magic. Xing Ze is not worried that the bag will be under that spell, otherwise Mr. Allen will not be able to pass the security check at all.

Most of the items in the bag had been rummaged out, coins were scattered on the floor, and inside there was a small jar, a few documents, and a pair of reading glasses.

It seems that the poisoner came in after Allen died, and he seemed to be looking for something.

"He guesses he has more than that. You can ask the luggage keeper, maybe you can get some useful clues."

A hint of approval flashed across Benson's face. The young man did not panic when he saw the body. Instead, he immediately made a judgment on the cause of death.

He even looked for clues and gave suggestions in the messy scene. His professionalism and calmness far exceeded Benson's expectations.

"He has already asked the conductor and Parker to do it. It is expected that the result will be found soon. No, I seem to know that very well."

Xing Ze stopped moving his legs. His old habit relapsed. His strong curiosity and professionalism as a detective always made him unconsciously start analyzing the case.

He responded quickly and wisely: "He formed a small society at school to learn and imitate Muggle detective legs. Do I know Sherlock Holmes, Mr. Benson?"

The old gentleman raised his lips slightly: "I heard that he was a smart fictional Muggle. He had to admit that in the East without magic, the Muggles' reconnaissance skills are indeed much better than theirs."

"It seems that except for magic telegrams and door keys, reconnaissance techniques can no longer be used, right?" Xing Ze took the opportunity to change the topic.

"No, most of the spells have failed. Benson looked helpless, "They are in trouble. "

Xing Ze took out the small jar from the deceased's bag and shook it. There was still some liquid inside.

"He was curious, Mr. Benson, how I knew the fatal poison was Spider's Kiss."

Is there a reason why Spider's Kiss is listed as an undetectable poison? Since even the detection wand cannot detect it, why can the old man in front of him be so sure?

Benson raised his eyebrows, "Can't I smell it? There is a fishy smell in the mead."

"Only that?"

Xing Ze's question made the old gentleman a little embarrassed. Just now he had questioned the young man in front of him in this way, but he didn't expect that the boy was learning and selling.

"If I had spent half my life dealing with the dark arts of corpse eaters, I could also tell the poison just by its smell. That thing killed half of his brothers."

Benson's tone was obviously cold, and Xing Ze immediately explained: "Don't worry, old gentleman. I know if he is ruling out suspects."

"Haha, young man, he is the last person I should question."

"That's impossible to say for sure. Just ask for help. Everyone on the train will be suspected, even students."

At that moment, Officer Shafiq hurried over. He glanced at Xing Ze suspiciously, hesitating whether to beg or shut up.

"Tell me, Parker, Mr. Xing Ze is not suspected at the moment." Benson smoothed things over.

"The murderous leg has been found." Shafiq said excitedly, "No Bowman, Bowman Lister."

Benson frowned and repeated, "Bowman?"

"No, sir. He has been seen by at least two house elves at the drinks counter in carriage five, and so has the elf guarding the luggage."

"Where is he now?"

"I am being held in a separate compartment, waiting for your interrogation." Shafiq replied with a proud look on his face.

The old gentleman pondered for a while and said, "Leave it to me, Parker. He has to discuss something with the conductor."

"Interrogated by him?" Officer Shafiq was a little surprised, but he quickly put away his doubts. "He assures you, sir, that you will not be disappointed."

After saying that, he quickly left excitedly.

When the two of them were silent, Xing Ze secretly hid the small jar in his bag. When he saw Benson turning his head, he said, "The case is solved, old man. It seems that he can return to Nuannuan." In a comfortable carriage.”

Benson raised his leg stick to block Xing Ze who was begging to leave. He said cheerfully: "Don't worry, Xing Ze, don't you feel weird for someone as smart as me?"

Xing Ze began to like the old man, and he asked in a deep voice: "Why don't you reject him, old man, when among so many people, I selected him to participate in the investigation."

"Let them talk as they walk. It's a long way to the conductor's office."

Benson pulled out a twisted wand from his leg stick. He chanted a spell and set a low-level warning spell outside the 4-A compartment.

Then, he stepped aside and motioned for Xing Ze to go ahead.

"Before the murderous leg showed up, he didn't trust anyone." He followed Xing Ze and said, "As I can see, his leg, Officer Parker, uh..."

Having said that, the old man paused, probably arranging his words, and soon he said again: "He is a responsible police officer, but now that most of the spells have lost their effect, there is not much he can do. He needs to find another helper.”

"But I can't choose from the train staff because they have a better chance of getting close to the drinks counter than passengers."

"Is that so?"

"Then I'm afraid that he will have bad legs?"

"Ah, young man, my suspicion that he was wrong has never diminished, so he asked me to follow him every step of the way."

Xing Ze stopped, turned around and said, "Hang Shi was found in the murderer's leg. He is no longer suspected."

Benson stopped three steps away from Xing Ze. He smiled and said: "I mean Bowman? Well, as far as he knows, when he was studying, his best thing was potions. Now, he is responsible for checking the things brought on the train. The illegal potion.”

"so what?"

"Spider's Kiss," Benson lowered his voice, "is a highly effective poison. Just a tiny amount can kill someone, but if too much is added, it will leave a special fishy smell. In addition, it will leave a special fishy smell. He had to remind me that it was expensive."
