The Original Vampire

The Son of Baron

Spring always comes very late in the northern part of the Glorious Empire.

It was not until the beginning of April that the wind and snow that had been raging for half a year finally receded unwillingly, and the warm sunshine came to the north again, bringing vitality to the recovery of all things.

But not everyone seems to like such bright sunshine.

For example, this man just walked out of Gray Castle.

He was wearing a leather tricorn hat with the brim pulled down very low, completely covering his eyes. However, he still seemed to feel that the sun was too harsh, so he raised his hand to pull the brim down a bit.

This man looks to be seventeen or eighteen years old, tall, and handsome. He is wearing a black shirt with red stripes and crimson cross-pattern knight boots that go up to his knees, making his already somewhat fluffy black pants swell up and look very noble against the backdrop of a burgundy coat that was almost knee-length.

But his face was extremely pale, as if he were recovering from a serious illness.

  ”Master Colin!”

  ”Master Colin!”

  …

Along the way, the servants in Gray Castle saluted the man and said hello.

However, this young master Colin, seemed to be preoccupied and responded to the servants’ greetings in a perfunctory manner.

After a while, he finally stopped in front of a small house, as if he were hesitating whether to go in or not.

  ”Meow~~”

Beside the corner, a kitten meowed dissatisfiedly, seeming to blame the man for blocking his sunlight.

Colin Angelet came back from his thoughts and looked at the kitten at his feet. His frown relaxed slightly, and a smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.

He knelt down and reached out to hold the kitten in front of him.

”Meow!” The humiliated kitten bared its teeth and claws for a while but was unable to break away from Colin’s clutches, so it fell silent as if resigned to its fate and just tried its best to stare at the stupid human in front of it with wide eyes.

Colin’s fingers gently rubbed the kitten’s slender neck, seeming to be hesitating about something.

”Bah-” Seeing the human in front of him slowly showing his sharp fangs, the kitten bared its teeth at him, not to be outdone.

After a moment of confrontation between one person and one cat, Colin suddenly laughed and put the kitten back on the ground.

”Meow! Meow! Meow~” As if it felt that it had successfully defeated stupid humans in the confrontation just now, the kitten meowed several times proudly.

Then it skillfully lay down, turned over, exposed its belly, and signaled the “defeated general” to come and serve its master quickly.

Unfortunately, the stupid human ignored it and got up and walked into the hut.

The maids, who were busy in the house, were a little surprised when they saw Colin. They quickly stopped what they were doing and asked carefully:

”Master Colin, why are you here? Dinner will have to wait for a while longer. If you’re hungry, we can prepare afternoon tea for you first.”

”No, I’ll just stroll around.” Colin glanced around the kitchen and asked, after seeing the reindeer with its limbs tied in the corner, ” Is venison for dinner today?”

”Yes, Master. Stewed venison with carrots, vegetable soup, buttered bread, and wine.”

Colin touched his chapped lips: “No need for wine; prepare a glass for me of deer blood.”

”Okay.” The maids were a little surprised but nodded.

In their impression, among the owners of this Gray Castle, only the Baron likes to drink deer blood, and Master Colin’s taste has always been very light.

After Colin finished explaining, he turned around and left, but when he walked to the door, he seemed to remember something, so he turned back and ordered:

  ”Add more garlic, raw.”

”Okay, Master.” The maids responded quickly.

At the same time, he complained in his heart: Master Colin’s taste is really getting stronger…

Night fell, and the dining room on the top floor of Gray Castle was illuminated by a row of candles and the flames in the fireplace. The decoration in the hall is quite luxurious, but it also has a rough atmosphere.

A kite shield carved with the head of a roaring bear hangs above the fireplace, surrounded by paintings of various styles and stuffed animal heads used to show off the owner’s prowess.

”Master, the wine cellar just purchased a few barrels of white wine from Winster Manor a few days ago. Do you want to try it?”

After the maids set the table, the butler, Eamonn, stood in front of Colin with his hands tied. Behind him, he recommended in a low voice:

”Last year, the rainy season in Winster was short and the sun was abundant. The quality of this batch of wine should be very good, just right for tonight’s venison.”

After learning that Master Colin was in the kitchen today, after his abnormal behavior, Eamonn was really worried.

The rude Baron Angelet was hopeless in Aemon’s heart, but he had great hopes for Master Colin, the butler who wanted to improve the taste of the Angelet family.

Unexpectedly, Master Colin asked the kitchen to prepare deer blood and garlic today!

Eamonn felt he had to do something.

The Angelet family must be elegant!

”Okay.” Being moved by the butler’s words, Colin nodded in agreement.

Eamonn smiled happily and quickly poured Colin a glass of white wine himself.

  ”Do you need anything else?”

Colin waved his hand. “No, you go and do your work.”

  ”Okay.”

As the butler’s footsteps disappeared outside the door, Colin was the only one left in the empty restaurant.

His father, Baron Angelet, was away at war, his mother had been dead for many years, and his sister was already married, so Colin was the only one sitting at the long and empty dining table.

However, he didn’t seem to feel lonely at all.

After quickly finishing the food in front of him, Colin drank white wine while looking at the remaining deer blood and garlic in a daze.

After finishing the glass of wine, he finally picked up the glass of deer blood, frowned slightly, and then brought it to his mouth –

there was no fishy smell, as expected, and there was no nausea. Colin drank it all in one gulp.

  A little sweet.

Colin licked the corners of his mouth, not knowing whether to be happy or sad.

”Did he really travel through time and become a vampire?” Colin whispered.

Then, he put down the cup, took out a roll of parchment from his arms, spread it on the table, and recorded it in words that were not of this world:

[Ordinary food cannot produce a feeling of satiety.]

[Drinking deer blood can bring significant satisfaction and restore physical strength. ]

  [Other blood, to be tested…]

Putting down the quill, Colin sighed.

What he hopes most now is that there will be something like a “Beginner’s Guide to Time Travel” and a “Vampire Survival Manual” that can give him a reference instead of having to guess and try things out on his own.

Even if he didn’t have these, he would at least have to travel through time and become an existing species in this world, so that Colin would know exactly who he was, what upgrade routes he had, and even be able to become a teacher or something.

But unfortunately, in this different world, similar to the Western Middle Ages, there are no records about vampires.

In this world, there are elves, orcs, trolls, nagas… and dragons that once ruled the world but are now extinct.

But there are just no vampires.

Colin felt that he might have become the world’s first vampire.

This made him a little worried.

Because in his original world, vampires were simply creatures that only existed in fantasy.

What abilities they have and what weaknesses they have are all imaginary.

And the settings in different works are not exactly the same.

Therefore, in order to fully understand his new body and new role, Colin can only experiment on himself… So far , he has found that he is really similar to the legendary vampire.

  Photophobic, bloodthirsty, immortal…

  yes, immortal.

Because, when he just traveled through time this morning, he discovered that there was a dagger stuck in his chest.
