This Game is Too Real

Chapter 677: help me, see we're all shelter residents

Chapter 677 Help me, because we are all shelter residents!

The setting sun sank to the bottom of the sea, and the night at the port of the circular island was peaceful, but the French fries port, two hundred nautical miles away, was bustling.

Fires flickered in the forest, explosions and gunshots came and went, and the communication channel was filled with noisy shouts, sometimes accompanied by roars and mourning of alien species.

The remote control weapon station on the top of the "Husky" tracked vehicle continued to fire and shoot, pouring 20mm caliber warheads towards the pitch-black jungle. Firelight mixed with smoke and dust.

It was the convoy of the scientific expedition team that went deep into the ruins of Shilong City that was besieged.

Half an hour ago, they arrived at the ruins of a signal receiving station, preparing to recover the coordinates and identification codes of the astronomical observation satellites stored in the hard disk of the local server.

If you can reconnect to the satellite, you can try to recover the access records and historical IP saved on the satellite memory, so as to light up a large area of high-value targets worth exploring on the map.

For the excavation of the remains of the entire city, this signal receiving station is equivalent to the key to unlock the first door of the maze.

However, to everyone's surprise, when the advance team of the Jungle Corps entered the signal receiving station, what awaited them was a nest of huge mutated ants!

In fact, when they saw the passage with a diameter of one meter, everyone had a bad premonition in their hearts. And when they entered the database, that bad feeling quickly became a reality.

Dark green mutated aphids blocked the entire passage with almost no place to stay. The mutated ants have transformed this place into a pasture for raising aphids!

A knee-high mutated soldier ant quickly spotted them, and the two sides fought fiercely in the narrow passage.

Three players risked their lives to rush into the database full of slimy bugs, followed the prompts in the eyepiece of the exoskeleton helmet to disassemble the chitin-covered chassis, and tore off the motherboard with the hard disk inserted.

Of the ten players who first entered the ruins, only five came back alive, and one of the remaining four lost an arm.

The pasture of the ethnic group was destroyed, and the angry ant colony rushed out of the ant nest like a black wave, and rushed towards the people near the tracked vehicle.

These bugs are better than those little guys in Vault 100.

Especially the soldier ants in the group.

Not only do they have thick and sharp jaws like a sickle, but they also have the vitality to survive being shot several times in the body, and the power to bite off a tree trunk in one bite.

Under the orders of the queen ants, they stepped on the corpses of the same kind that had fallen, and rushed towards the tracked vehicle one after another.

Even if the firepower of the alliance is fierce enough, the number of these guys is too exaggerated, and it seems to be endless.

"MMP! This is much stronger than the green belts in Jinchuan Province!" His ears were buzzing with the continuous gunshots, and Voldemort tensed his nerves while pressing down on the light machine guns that continued to fire. Roared loudly.

"Reload! Cover me!" Pressing down the hot and red barrel, the Piltover paratrooper knocked off the empty drum, took a new one from behind and inserted it hastily.

At this moment, an RPG dragging white smoke jumped out from above his head, and the falling sparks and thick smoke covered his face.

"Day! What the **** are you—" He coughed and before he could finish speaking, the rocket bomb hit the tree trunk only 20 meters away from him.

The instantaneous explosion of thermobaric bombs swayed a ball of flame and white smoke, shaking the surrounding bushes, and dozens of mutated ants seemed to have been hit by a heavy hammer, screaming and being pressed by the scorching air waves. fell to the ground.

Everyone got a moment to breathe, but before they could rest for a while, the tide-like colony of ants came up again.

"There are too many of them!" With his index finger pressed on the helmet, a player shouted loudly in the communication channel.

Just when everyone was about to lose their hold, the long-awaited retreat order finally appeared on the communication channel.

"...The hard disk has been recovered, and the teams retreated according to the scheduled route!"

"receive!"

Wearing a machine gun, Voldemort drew up the stand, stepped on the fluffy grass and branches with clumsy steps, and retreated in the direction of the tracked vehicle.

Several people fired at the ant colony alternately, retreating and fighting in groups of three, and finally retreated to the vicinity of the "Husky" tracked vehicle.

The vehicle as tall as a bulldozer has turned around and retreated in the direction it came from under the fire support provided by four teams of ten.

Looking at the wreckage scattered on the ground, a player with a look of reluctance stretched out his hand to grab some material to take back for questioning, but his arm was almost bitten off by a mutated ant that was still alive.

Fortunately, the team leader at the side saw the situation, and sent the ant away with a swipe, and then pulled the unlucky guy back from the brink of death.

"What the **** are you doing!" Looking at the idiot who was holding a mutated ant corpse in his hand, the captain couldn't help but curse, "What time is it to touch the corpse!"

The player smiled and touched his helmet.

"I don't want to take one back to study and study..."

Too lazy to talk nonsense with this guy, the captain pushed the guy's shoulder in the direction of the tracked vehicle, and shouted urgently.

"Hurry up! Put it in the car, we're leaving!"

The alliance did not deploy aircraft in this area, so it was unable to provide air support. Fortunately, the brothers of the Burning Corps built a temporary artillery position near the camp during the day, and this time the support weapons shipped from Dawn City included 155mm artillery.

Borrowing the radio station of the tracked vehicle, Midnight Killing Chicken quickly got in touch with the friendly forces in the rear and reported the situation here.

"This is the Jungle Corps. We are besieged by a dense colony of ants. The coordinates are 1091, 1222... Request to extend fire support to the north!"

There was a rustling electric sound from the earphones, and soon there was an answer from the friendly army.

"Received! The 155 artillery positions are already in place, give us a minute!"

   "Hurry up!"

roared towards the communication channel, and the midnight killer who hung up the communication immediately waved the chain saw welded to the prosthetic body of his left arm, and slashed at the mutated ants that rushed up from the side.

Accompanied by the creaking and scratching sound, the carapace covered with ginger-yellow slime was scattered and splashed under the heavy blow of the chainsaw, and a mutant soldier ant half the height of a person was cut in half from the middle!

The movement of his hands didn't stop, watching the mutated soldier ants biting up from the side, Midnight Killing Chicken raised the bolt barrel welded to his right arm and shot out a spray.

I saw thick and long flames flickering, and the 19mm shotgun blasted firmly on the forehead of the mutant soldier ant, shooting the huge head and mouthparts into a sieve.

Standing in the ant colony, he is like a **** of killing, and he has taken countless "heads" with his wide-ranging attacks.

Looking at the teams that had already engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the alien species, he roared loudly.

"Hold on! Fire support is on the way!"

Encouraged by that roar, a group of strong men from the jungle corps broke out with the aura of killing mutants, pulled out the engineering shovel and logging ax hung on the exoskeleton, and started a hand-to-hand fight with the mutant soldiers and ants rushing nearby. fight.

A strength player threw the broken logging ax aside, picked up the pebbles on the ground, and smashed the mutant soldier ants riding on him into a pulp with brute force.

There is also a Mengxin who has just joined the regiment and is even more fierce. After his legs were cut off by the mouthparts of the mutated ant, he directly picked up the half of the calf that fell to the ground with the scriptures and meat, and smashed it hard It took half the head of an ant half as tall as a man.

The battle has finally entered the melee link that the Jungle Corps is best at.

Stimulated by the blood, everyone's eyes turned red.

For a while, it was impossible to tell which side was a human and which side was a beast.

   "Crazy! Totally crazy!"

Model Voldemort screamed, threw away the machine gun with empty magazines, swung the hatchet and rushed up, chopping like minced meat.

In just one minute, the total casualties of the fifty-man team approached 30%!

Although the ant colony also suffered heavy losses, these guys are bugs who don't know what death is after all, and the word retreat does not exist in the dictionary.

Just when everyone's situation was in jeopardy, the shelling called a minute before midnight killed the chicken finally reached the battlefield.

   Almost on time.

Flashing flames flew into the sky amidst thunderous roars, and a moment later they swished like raindrops and smashed into the dense forest in front of the Jungle Corps.

Groups of exploding flames and thick smoke are like piranhas blooming in the rainforest. Mutated ants with claws and claws instantly fell down in pieces like cutting wheat, and were torn into pieces by the explosion fragments and scorching air waves. broken pieces.

The first round of shelling was just a prelude.

Before the mutated ants could recover from the explosion, the second round of shelling followed.

The roaring artillery fire extended a full 500 meters towards the north, blasting the entire rainforest into a mess, with broken branches and vines all over the ground, and black mud turned from the surface to the treetops.

   "Woohoo!"

   "Nice job!"

After dealing with a few mutated ants that survived by chance, everyone put away the slime-stained logging ax and the red-hot gun barrel, and cheered for the rest of their lives.

The researchers on the tracked vehicle also breathed a sigh of relief.

Except for Meng Liang who had followed Chu Guang to the battlefield, most of the people here were returning so close to the front line for the first time.

Listening to the bullet casings that fell on the roof of the car, many people's hearts rose to their throats.

Wiping the sweat off his face, Meng Liang pretended to be relaxed and looked at his subordinates aside, and gave the researchers a comforting smile.

"Look, I told you...it's actually not that scary." While speaking, he shook his legs shyly to hide the tenderness of his calves.

Everyone looked at this brother Meng with admiration, secretly thinking in their hearts that he is indeed a person who has seen the world with the manager.

It's just that they don't know it.

Although this man did follow the manager to the front line, the so-called front line is only limited to the bridge of the airship.

It was the first time for him to see bullets flying around like this.

   Don't panic, that's not normal.

  The battle outside is over.

The mutated ant colony suffered heavy damage under the bombardment of the 155 artillery, and it has completely died down.

In this night-filled rainforest, the ground is full of mutated ants that lack arms and legs and can't stand up, flapping their few remaining legs in the pungent smell of gunpowder smoke.

As if realizing that chasing prey has become impossible, some mutated worker ants with slightly smaller mouthparts began to emerge from the nest, dragging the injured mutated soldier ants back to the nest.

But at this time, they seem to have become the sweet pastry in the eyes of other predators in the forest. Many alien species who smell the fragrance of food have sensed the opportunity to have a good meal, and have already looked at this side eagerly.

Obviously, the bloodthirsty and cruelty of this rainforest are not only aimed at outsiders. The cruel jungle law cares equally for every creature that sets foot on this land.

For the mutated ant tribe entrenched underground in the ruins of the signal receiving station, tonight may be particularly long and difficult.

But this is irrelevant to those players who have no intention of breaking into here...

   "Damn... I actually survived."

Pushing away the half of the corpse that was pressing on him, Voldemort shook his drowsy head vigorously, and got up from the ground.

Picking up the machine gun he dropped earlier, with the support of his teammates, he limped back towards the rear and left the battlefield following the ruts of the tracked vehicle.

After marching two kilometers southwest, each team counted and reported the casualties.

Counting the unlucky ones who mended themselves after being seriously injured, a total of 20 players were killed in action, and most of the remaining 30 players were also injured.

This battle can be described as tragic.

But in contrast, the results they achieved are equally astonishing.

The data stored on the hard disk is basically complete, and now we only need to wait for the experts from the scientific research team and Camp 101 to decipher the content on the hard disk, and then retrieve the data from the satellite tens of thousands of kilometers away.

   It won't take much time.

When everything is completed, they can synchronize all research facilities within a radius of tens of kilometers that have data associations with that satellite on the map.

  …

The night was deep, and darkness enveloped the rainforest. On the silent coastline, there were only sporadic campfires in the port and the mottled moonlight floating on the waves.

Stepping on the edge of the campfire, the bushmen of the jungle corps, who had been rambunctious in the woods all day, returned to the French Fries Harbor on the coast side by side.

Pieces of the exoskeleton are covered in scratches, pits, and xenobiotic saliva and blood, and several bite-pocked remains have lost their owners.

Looking at the group of scarred soldiers and the intact tracked vehicle, the researchers of the scientific expedition team who were arranging samples at the gate of the settlement cast surprised glances at them, and then their eyes were more or less printed. Inspired by the light.

Thanks to those respectable people, they can focus on what they are good at, and don't have to worry about death that may come at any time.

Death has always existed in this wasteland, and has never left them.

It's just that someone took it all on their behalf...

Infected by the tragic atmosphere, several researchers standing near the recovery point silently raised their right fists and put them on their left chests, and gave a military salute to the alliance towards the sluggish figures.

What a respectable bunch of guys!

  …

At the same time, on the south side of Chips Harbor, next to the beach, there is the only tavern in the port.

The name of the tavern is quite unique, called "one-person tavern". As the name suggests, there is only one owner from the bar to the back kitchen, so sometimes guests have to pour their own wine, and even go to the sink next to it to wash their glasses.

But most of the players don't care, after all, even if they care, there is no choice, the whole settlement is just such a small tavern.

Even if it is a convertible.

The name of the boss here is [Drunk Lying and Smiling Yiren]. He is a life professional player who got a helmet from the B test. His specialty is deep-fried fish and chips.

In his own words, these two dishes can be done with hands, or even without hands, which are more suitable for handicapped players like him whose cooking skills are about 0.

   As for the taste...

I’ve already come here to drink, so why bother about the taste?

Drunk people only fight against dropped calls. As for the taste of the food in their mouths, they don’t really care much.

A group of players sat on the edge of the beach, drinking beer and eating fish and chips, while exchanging information obtained during the day's adventure.

"Damn it, there is a group of mutated lizards living on the highlands in the northwest. At first glance, I thought it was a dinosaur! Thanks to my sensory system, I discovered it first, and almost overturned without earning the ticket!"

"Did you accept that exploration mission?"

"Yes! The difficulty of the task is written as E, and the recommended level is LV10. I believe it is evil!"

"Ha ha ha ha!"

   "You are so lucky!"

"I heard that submitting battle videos seems to be able to re-grade. Encountering three A-level or one S-level aliens seems to be able to be graded as A. The silver coins and contribution points rewarded by the mission will increase a lot."

   "Really? I'll try again!"

"Speaking of which, Junk Jun should be found, this is his home field."

"Great idea, maybe it can help our **** brother solve the problem of dating."

"Haha! You want to laugh your father to death."

"Speaking of which, what has that guy been up to recently? I haven't seen anyone else in Dawn City."

"That guy hasn't come back from Jinchuan Province. It seems that the two of them are addicted to being magic sticks in Jinchuan Province."

   "Good guy."

"It's okay to be a magic stick."

Everyone was discussing in amazement, when a group of strong men from the Jungle Corps, who had unloaded their equipment, walked towards this side noisily.

It was completely different from the state when they just returned to the camp. One or two of these guys didn't look like they were dead teammates at all. Their faces were filled with hearty joy, but they seemed to have just won a match that was evenly matched. match.

For the tasks issued by the scientific expedition team, 70% of the equipment loss will be reimbursed by the scientific expedition team. If individuals purchase additional insurance for their equipment, the compensation rate can even reach 90%.

They can let go of their hands and feet, anyway, in the end, someone will pay for the consumption of the audience.

Rewards for missions will be comprehensively calculated based on parameters such as the actual difficulty, the ratio of battle damage to profit, and the completion of branch lines.

Encountering an ant colony was considered an unexpected situation beyond intelligence, and they successfully brought back the hard drive when the accident happened.

This mission is also an A+ evaluation. After deducting the equipment and ammunition consumption beyond the reimbursement quota, it is not a problem to share a four-digit bonus for each person!

"MMP! Today's task is really exciting!"

   "It's so cool!"

   "Hopefully there will be more!"

"Haha, you're really happy, brother Guang is so miserable!"

"It's not important! It's over when you're cool!"

Looking at Lao Bai, who was drinking with a few brothers from the Burning Corps, Midnight Killing Chicken walked up and smiled and stretched out his fist.

"Old Bai, you guys are good at shooting!"

Grinning, Lao Bai raised his fist to touch him.

"That's a must! The guys who **** are all professionals."

Pulled a stool and sat beside him, Midnight Slay Chicken asked with a smile.

"How about you? How is the harvest today?"

Before Lao Bai could speak, the prop belt master who was sitting beside him interrupted with a playful smile.

"It's okay, that's it. Today's task is mainly to be a light bulb and accompany Ms. Chen to enjoy flowers."

Model Voldemort: "Hahaha, it's okay to be a light bulb!"

"Don't listen to this guy's nonsense, it's a serious sampling task, we will go back after we pack up the samples."

Facing the pair of teasing and gossiping eyes, Lao Bai coughed dryly and continued.

"... We also encountered a few waves of attacks on the way, but the intensity was average. We also brought back a few wild game, which are being roasted over there."

As he spoke, he pointed to the beach not far away with his chin.

I saw Killer Dagger leading a few players around the fire with pebbles, next to a mutated cheetah that had just been skinned.

The cheetah was much bigger than the ones piled on the cargo pile during the day, and it was probably some special species that evolved in this rainforest.

Irena, who was sitting on the stool next to her, swallowed, her eyes full of longing.

   "Good guy, it looks good."

Although the fire has not yet risen, just looking at the raw meat covered with marinade, the French fries and fried fish on the plate are no longer delicious...

Seeing pairs of eyes looking this way, Lao Bai smiled heartily, waved his big hand and said cheerfully.

"You can take whatever you want, and bring your own knife, fork and beer!"

Immediately rushed to the front of the bar, Voldemort proudly took out a few banknotes and slapped them on the table.

"Boss, two cases of beer! And... ten dishes of French fries!"

"The wine is in the warehouse, help me get it." Yi Ren, who was busy with French fries, stared nervously at the contents of the frying pan without looking up.

It's like staring at grenades that have been defused.

   "Damn! I'll **** you!"

Looking at his perfunctory look, Voldemort gave his **** fiercely, but he still ran into the warehouse to get the wine.

Walking to the edge of the bar and pouring himself a glass of lemonade, the paratrooper in Piltover looked at the overwhelmed Yi Ren and said jokingly.

"I said brother, you should hire a few waiters and let the customers serve tea, pour water and wash the dishes. I have never seen a boss like you."

Yi Ren looked up and said dumbfounded.

"You think I don't want to!"

There are not many NPCs in this camp.

As for the players, don't even think about it.

These guys can even afford the 600 silver coins for the plane ticket, so it is obviously impossible for them to come to him to do some handy work.

And those newcomers who are willing to do the work are mostly 10% newcomers who haven't even unlocked the VM, let alone the 600 silver coins for air tickets, and they don't even have the level threshold to go to the new map by airship!

Model Voldemort worked twice before and after, and it can be regarded as moving two boxes of beer to the edge of the beach and distributing them to everyone waiting for the fire to rise.

Not long after, Killer Dagger and Kidney Fighter finally lit the fire.

Several strong men from the jungle corps went up to help to hold the handle, and put the mutant cheetah weighing two to three hundred kilograms on the temporary support.

Everyone moved their stools to the fire and sat down, drinking beer with the sea breeze blowing, and cutting **** meat while grilling.

Smelling the intoxicating aroma of barbecue and seeing the oily brown on the fire, Lao Bai couldn't help squinting his eyes comfortably.

  Beach, beer, barbecue...

Sure enough, this is an adventure!

In contrast, the life in Dawn City is a bit too comfortable. Although it is quite interesting, whether it is the people or things there, it always feels that there is something missing compared to when the server was opened.

But when he arrived at Chip Harbor, he suddenly realized what the missing thing was.

They set foot on this land as residents of Vault 404, vowing to end the wasteland era and restore civilization.

Now that the wasteland in Qingquan City is over, the abandoned city full of death has become a training ground for newcomers to practice operations... There are no more tasks there that can provide them with more game experience for high-level players.

While this is certainly good, it can still feel lonely once in a while.

  Maybe…

Only the life on the road is the most suitable for players like them.

I don't know if he was thinking the same thing, the Elf King Fugui who was sitting by the side looked up at the clear night sky and the brilliant galaxy, and suddenly said melancholy.

"By the way...if this trend continues, sooner or later all the wasteland will come to an end, right? What are you going to do then?"

After taking a bite of the crispy and browned leg meat, Irena said with a funny face.

"Why do you think about things so far away? Besides, isn't there a pie 5 light years away?"

Elf King Fugui looked at him and asked.

"Is the wasteland 5 light years away also ended?"

"Then go to a farther place and have a look!" Looking up at the bright galaxy in the sky, Lao Na smiled and said, "When the time comes, buy a spaceship and go surfing, and see how big the map of this game is!"

  Model Voldemort joked.

"Maybe it's all stickers when flying over."

  Irena said with a smile.

   "Haha! Maybe it's really possible!"

Everyone was talking and laughing, eating and drinking. The french fries ordered half an hour ago were finally brought to the table. Yi Ren clapped his hands and was about to go back to continue frying fish, but he was caught by everyone who was already half full. Pulled down and sat down to drink together.

Model Voldemort burped, got up and stretched, and suddenly saw a black oil drum on the beach.

To be precise, it is something shaped like an oil barrel. The size is estimated to be as tall as one person, and as long as three or four people lying flat.

"Did something wash up on the shore?"

Hearing his voice, everyone looked towards the coastline at the same time, and they all saw the weird guy.

Just at this moment, an arc-shaped door was opened on the side of the cylinder, and it seemed that a person rolled out of it.

He staggered up from the beach, as if he wanted to get away from the edge of the beach, but before he could stand still, a half-human-high wave crashed up, pushing him down to the ground again .

Fate seems to have played a joke on him.

Besides him, there was also a mutant sea crab that shook its head and was washed ashore together.

The crab shook its huge shell, and was about to move back into the sea, when it suddenly saw the guy flopping on the beach, and couldn't move its legs.

Seeing this scene from a distance, Lao Bai slightly squinted his eyes, and put down the wine bottle in his hand.

Smelling the smell of the branch line, the murderous dagger sitting beside him immediately became interested, and put down the half-eaten leg meat without saying a word.

   "I'll help him!"

Regardless of Lao Kidney's objection, he wiped his hands full of oil on his good brother's clothes, then picked up the assault rifle next to him and took a few steps forward, and shot two bursts on the beach, killing the mutant that changed direction. The sea crab forced back a few steps.

Taking advantage of the moment when the mutated sea crab was in a daze, he opened fire to attract its attention, and at the same time rushed up quickly, dragging the unlucky drowned chicken back from the beach.

A brother of the Jungle Corps skillfully picked up a ridiculously large bolter, put it on his shoulder and pulled the trigger.

His shoulders swayed from the recoil, but the 19mm bolter that broke out of the chamber was unambiguous and hit the sea crab's head accurately.

The hot metal jet shot out from the back of the beast's head, and the guy fell on the beach without saying a word.

"Brothers in stock! Grill crabs later!" The player chuckled, shook his shoulder that was about to be dislocated, picked up a fishing net and ran up.

At the same time, the man who was soaked in sea water was also carried back by the murder dagger on his shoulders. As soon as the latter let go, he slumped on the ground as if he was exhausted.

   "Hey, slow down."

"thanks, thanks…"

The man paralyzed on the ground looked thin, with blue lips, curled up on the ground, trembling and repeating the words of thanks, regardless of what other people said.

His hair wet by the sea was sticking to his forehead, he was panting heavily with a shocked expression on his face, and his embarrassed look seemed to have encountered something terrible.

Facing the confused gazes of the crowd, he seemed to be blind. Those muddy pupils wandered around on their own, and finally fixed on the oily barbecue on the fire.

His Adam's Apple rolled up and down, as if he was swallowing the little saliva left, and his desperate eyes gradually showed his desire for food.

Old Bai walked up to him and knelt down, handing over a piece of steamed bun that Boss Yi hadn't had time to fry and a cup of hot lemonade.

   "Eat something first."

The man nodded desperately, but only after he grabbed the steamed bun, he left behind what he had just promised, and started eating voraciously.

Waiting until he finished eating the steamed buns and swallowing them with water, Lao Bai stared into his eyes and asked.

"My name is Lao Bai, what about you? What's your name?"

The man panted heavily and said tremblingly.

   "Huang...Huang Guangwei."

  Old Bai continued to ask.

   "Where are you from?"

For a split second, the man looked at Lao Bai vigilantly, then quickly glanced around, tightly shut his mouth, and didn't say a word.

Seeing the vigilance in the man's eyes, Lao Bai smiled lightly and continued in a relaxed tone.

"Don't be afraid, we're from the Alliance, and if you haven't heard of the Alliance... maybe you've heard of Vault 404."

As he spoke, he turned on the VM and clicked twice to start the screen.

Looking at the light blue startup screen that appeared on the VM, the man was obviously relieved, and most of the wariness in his eyes was also eliminated.

Seeing his reaction, Lao Bai had already guessed something in his heart, took out the headset he carried with him and hung it on his ear, pressed his index finger and said.

"Fang Chang, come to the one-person tavern. There is an NPC who may be from Vault 70."

After waiting for a while, Fang Chang's voice came soon.

"almost there."

Just as Lao Bai expected, the distraught guy in front of him spoke slowly.

   "I... from Vault 70..."

After speaking, he grabbed Lao Bai's arm and looked at him pleadingly.

"Help me... please, for the sake of us being shelter residents!"
