Versatile: Alternate World

17 Copper Necklaces

Aside from the Mining Imps that are now living in this cave, there is another monster that is part liquid and a living organism. Yep, it is the slimes. I don't need to explain too much about what slime is since I know most gamers should have already encountered a slime in the games they have played.

But compared to most games where they don't have many presences aside from being beginner mobs, the slimes in the Alternate World are pretty much rare monsters. Although they are common in this cave, they aren't that many in other places. If anyone ever finds another slime in another location, it is most likely a rare monster that is carrying good loot or an elite monster. Of course, encountering one is just a matter of luck so it isn't much.

Right now, the slimes here are common spawns. They are normal mobs and spawn here a lot. But there is one thing that made them quite valuable to hunt in the beginning especially if you don't have money. And if you are really lucky, not only money will drop but some items as well.

After killing most Mining Imps around, I went deeper into the cave and soon found a group of slimes slithering on the floor. They are post-neutral and will only attack at a certain distance or if they are agitated. To see if they are rare slimes, I checked their status.

[Blob Slime]

Level 7

HP: 1000/1000

Attribute: Slime

I am a bit disappointed but they are still slimes. They might not be counted as a rare type but they still work in giving quite a lot of money if killed. I snap my fingers, igniting the flames before launching a magic attack to incinerate the slime and to see how much damage I can inflict on one.

"[Basic Fireball]!"

FWOOSH!

-you have dealt 1,102 damage.

Good, a one-hit kill. How about the other elements? I should test it.

"[Shocking Lightning]!"

BZZZT!

-you have dealt 2,012 damage.

That was a bit bigger. Is it because they are made in water? That might be the main reason the damage was bigger right?

Then, the last spell.

"[Ice Prison]!"

CRACK! CRACK! BOOM!

Ice enveloped the slime before it exploded into pieces.

-you have dealt 1,045 damage.

It was the lowest damage out of all elements, but it is still within the realm of the one-hit kill. Though all of them are effective against the slimes, the electric element works well with them. Perhaps if I used the [Lightning Sword] in the past timeline to farm these guys close to extinction, I might have earned much faster gold. But I should just let everything be forgotten by time, I need to focus on my task right now,

Alright, time to go farming.

-Blob Slime...

The equipment dropped by the slimes, the [Copper Necklace] is a poor man's equipment and would benefit those beginner players who specialize in magic and those who benefit more on high INT stat. It's only good in the beginning but you would definitely need to replace it with another necklace as soon as you found a replacement.

I have been farming these slimes for a few minutes already and since they spawn fast enough, the amount of copper coins I have is already quite a lot and I am confident that if it was converted to bigger coins, I will have at least a minimum of 2 silver. Two silver is already quite a lot for beginner players and in their first week, they would be only able to earn silver once they have already invested in their character for a bit.

I checked my inventory in case it was already full and I noticed that there is one necklace that is different compared to the other necklace. I checked the normal necklace first to see if there are any changes from what I can remember.

Nothing new which is very typical. So my attention shifted to the other necklace.

An extra effect huh. Well, that was nice. It has extra stats and it also adds 3 AGI so it is decent. Until I have a new necklace to replace this one, I can only wear this until then. As for the others, I will have to sell them later to the blacksmith. They don't have any use for me.

I continued farming the monsters inside the cave. I am mostly focusing on the slimes but if there are some imps disturbing my farming session against the slimes, I will also kill them. The EXP they gave are too pitiful so I did not really think much about how much I earned. I stayed around an hour in the cave before I stopped killing them and finally left the cave. Checking my inventory, I managed to gather 124 [Copper Necklaces] though all of them are Normal Quality. I didn't earn any other rarity like the Rare Necklace earlier. Perhaps I was just too lucky before.

Returning to the town, the bazaar is still pretty busy and many players and NPCs alike are still walking around and checking the stalls. As for me, I went to the blacksmith. Opening the door, I saw that the blacksmith is on the counter and busy counting a few of those pieces of equipment being sold by one of the players who has a class of a Samurai based on his katana and the kimono garb on his body. From the looks of it, he is selling a Normal Tier Crude Bastard Sword that is normally dropped by level 5 Rat Pests.

"Hmmm, the quality is not bad, but not good either. I can sell it for a few coins but that's it. If you sell it to others, I doubt someone will buy this. At most, I will just use this for smelting or amalgamation. This won't sell that much. At least 200 copper each," the blacksmith said.

"200 copper? Can't this get raised for a few more coppers?" the samurai asked.

"Unfortunately, this weapon is just a piece of junk so it's natural for its price to be that low. I can't just give you a bigger price for it. I would go lose a lot if I sold it to you for a high price. Just take it or leave it," the blacksmith is firm on the price and did not say anything anymore.

The samurai hesitated a bit and he decided to give up and just let the blacksmith do the transaction. There are four Crude Bastard Swords on the counter so he got 800 coppers. The samurai sighed and dejectedly left the blacksmith while the blacksmith looked at me with a stern look in his eyes.

"What is your business here kid?" the blacksmith asked.

I approached the counter and put down the bag full of [Copper Necklaces] to the counter.

"Can I sell these to you?"

The blacksmith opened the bag and saw the contents. He pulled out one of the necklaces and inspected them all.

"Copper Necklaces eh? Looks like your arrival is just in time. You can say it is your lucky day that you decided to sell these to me."

"Huh?" I was confused, is there some sort of event involving these things? I don't think there is but whatever. Let's hear what he wanted to say.

"I am lacking in copper right now. With all the adventurers coming in, my stock of Copper Arrows depleted so fast. My supplier of copper hasn't returned yet so I am stuck with staying in the low supply. With these things, however, I can get an emergency material out of them and create Bronze Arrows out of them. I will buy these and give you twice the normal price. Deal?"

"Eh? Are you sure? Won't you get a big loss in capital for buying these for twice the normal price?"

"Nope, I still gain money and even if the fad of the Bronze arrows will disappear, it will still give me some money to earn. What do you say?"

Honestly, I didn't expect anything. I already earned enough copper coins I can use to buy something in the bazaar so I am not expecting the blacksmith to buy this junk willingly. A man's junk is another man's treasure it is.

The blacksmith bought my [Copper Necklace] stash for 10 copper since the normal price for selling one is 5 copper. Who would have thought I will earn 1,240 coppers from doing that? Damn, I should have farmed a bit more.
