Versatile: Alternate World

8 Equipment And Stat Checkup

I don't want to experiment whether there are new titles obtainable for dying a few more times. As much as it sounds tempting, I already got what I was hoping to get and it was even a better title compared to the previous timeline so I was totally satisfied despite the grueling death sequences that happened before I obtained them.

After wearing back my normal clothes back, I suddenly thought about the changes. Perhaps there are some changes to the normal equipment I received at the very beginning? With the titles I received having some new effects, perhaps the items I received has also some new stats. Excited to see something else, I opened my inventory and checked every single piece of armor I got.

Perhaps there are some surprises waiting for me to discover.

Tch, there are no changes. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. So much for expectation, they didn't change a bit.

...

After doing all the equipping job, I opened my stats panel and spend the attribute points. I only have 10 AP so I have no choice but to spend 2 points on all attributes to balance out. It would be great if I can at least focus on one stat like on other classes that has a stat specialization. But since Versatile focuses on all classes, I have to exploit the AP gain quests and some other things like achievements to earn additional AP if I needed more. Every class has a different amount of stat distribution and they have at least one or two stat they are mainly specialized.

All class has a different build and Versatile Class is also another build that screams "Balance". It follows the balanced distribution, no more, no less. Most classes would have an attribute with more AP in the very beginning while there would be at least a single stat with a very small amount of AP spent or without a single one given to it in the first place. That is why the free 10 AP is for those players who are unsatisfied seeing a zero value on their stat. My class is all filled and what is more, every stat has an equal 5 AP spent on them in the very beginning. Since I spent 2 AP on every stat, they are all in figure 7. But with the equipment added on the fray, the stat are no longer in figure 7, it has changed already.

If I unequip all of my armor, the stats would return back to figure 7 since those stats are known only as armor bonus, not a permanent bonus. Only by spending AP would make my stats permanent.

My HP and MP changed too after spending some AP on my stats. The reason is due to the END and INT stat. The END stat is also known as Endurance and it influences the defense and HP value of the player. Every 2 AP raised on the END stat, my HP's maximum value would have risen to 200. As for the increase in defense, I can't really understand much since this is an invisible stat that you can only notice if you are damaged by an enemy. All I know is that the higher the END stat is, the higher your tankiness. Since the stat has risen with 13 AP not counting the 5 AP, the increase is quite good. On my MP, mana will only grow 100 per 2 AP spent on the INT stat. It might be a bit smaller compared to the END stat increase but it is a general rule that MP cannot exceed the amount of the HP unless you neglect to spend on the END stat and focus more on the INT stat.

The INT stat also has the hidden stat which is Magic Power. Like the defensive value, the higher your INT stat is, the higher damage you can inflict by using magic spells.

The stats are not so complicated once you get the hang of it. I am not so satisfied with it but that's just about it and all I could do at the moment. Next, I looked at my weapons. Honestly, its already obvious that the Versatile Weapon would be the best choice but is it already good enough to equip it rather than the Beginner Sword? I pondered a bit before I decided to equip the Versatile Weapon.

I thought it would look very extraordinary once equipped but then when it appeared before me after equipping, the weapon is just similar to the Beginner Sword. Still, I needed to be careful, this weapon is a God Tier weapon. I would attract a bunch of other players that would be vying for this weapon if they found out about this. And although it can't drop in any way and will be bound to me, players are greedy bunch so having it will make the other jealous bastards to do what it takes to get it.

I inspected the Versatile Sword for now. Despite being similar to the Beginner Sword, the hilt of the sword is much darker and the blade has a tint of reddish color despite not customized to look like greyish color. One thing that strikes the difference between this and the Beginner Sword are the two words emblazoned on the blade of the sword.

"GREED AND GLUTTONY"

Greed and gluttony. Those two words are immediately the identified by me are  the two out of the seven deadly sins. What is the meaning of this? Is this a weapon of the Seven Deadly Sins series? I have heard in the past timeline of a legend about the appearance of the Heroic tiered weapons called the Seven Deadly Sins Weapons. However, there are only a few people who have seen and used it before. Not only that but they are Heroic Tier weapons and cannot be God Tier weapons.

So, does this mean, my weapon is one part of the series? But why two sins? It should only be representing one sin since I heard that the Seven Deadly Sins weapon series has seven weapons representing every single sin. This weapon of mine contains two sins at a time. It doesn't even show any signs that it is part of the Seven Deadly Sins weapons since if they are, the weapon would indicate it as [Seven Deadly Sins: Weapon Series] in its name. With that, it is clear this one doesn't have it.

I shook my head and decided to test out its devour ability first. I am getting curious about how this weapon devours other weapons. I have not seen it in my past timeline so lets try it out here and now.

"[Devour!]"

[Please put the item on the ground to proceed with the devouring process.]

Oh? Is that how it is? Then, without thinking much, I opened the inventory and withdraw the Beginner Sword before dropping it on the ground. Alright, let's try that again!

"[Devour]!"

To my surprise, the Versatile Weapon shook  and it seems ready to devour the weapon now as a huge black shadow appeared on my weapon and emits a huge amount of energy. This black shadow looked like a drooling dragon though it lacks definite shape, it just looks like a grease that is melting though it shows some sort of dragon form that is not stable. As it saw the weapon on the ground, it seems to be licking it's lips despite the fact that I can't see any sort of lips on this thing.

Before I can do anything, the dragon opened its large mouth and devoured the Beginner Sword. It swallowed the whole thing, leaving not a single scrap behind. Once the devouring process was done, the black dragon returned to the sword and it didn't show any movements after that.

I am still a bit confused on what happened and since nothing noteworthy occurred after it devoured the weapon and returned, I decided to open the stats of the Versatile Weapon to check its stats.

Restriction: Cannot be dropped, cannot be sold, cannot be traded. Bound to the Owner

Bound: Bladeheart

Durability: Null

My eyes squinted on the stats. The STR and DEX stat has risen from 10 to 12. Did it grow due to the weapon devouring the Beginner Sword? Also, there is already an exp bar below the weapon level. I did not notice it before but there was indeed a weapon level. Most weapons don't have level unless they undergo Amalgamation process which only Blacksmiths can perform. Amalgamation process involves the main weapon and sub-weapon. The main weapon will use the sub-weapon to strengthen itself. Stats will rise exponentially once it reaches a certain level. And since [Devour] skill is counted as amalgamation, did I just get a weapon that can perform free Amalgamation? Since if that is the case, I can save lots of gold from that thing alone. Amalgamation is a very costly thing.

I equip the Versatile Weapon and opened my stats to see any changes. And as expected, it seems it does count as Amalgamation.
