VRMMORPG: Dragomancer Reborn

56 Rude Awakening And Professional Delivery

It was already 11 PM and it would take Arthur quite some time to reach home. Thankfully, he had eaten already, thus he felt a lot better than he would have otherwise.

Hunger might have been a familiar acquaintance to Arthur too, but it didn't mean it was a good one.

'Now that I've gotten another chance, I need to be better than before. I cannot waste away like before.' Arthur thought to himself with determination.

He made his way to the Sky Train station and returned to his shabby apartment. It was quite late by the time he reached, and the streets were deserted. Thankfully, no one would target someone like him who already looked broke, thus even the shady individuals ignored him.

Creak!

The door of his apartment opened with a loud creak, irking his ears.

"The first thing I need to do is find a new place once I got the funds," Arthur noted in his mind.

He washed up and got ready for sleep, but not before taking one more look through his notebook.

He revised all that he had done and made sure to check if there was anything he had missed or forgotten.

"Huu… Nothing missed. Things went better than I thought." Arthur said to himself, feeling relieved.

Finally, he lay on the bed, ready to sleep in it for the last time.

After all, tomorrow he'll be throwing it out in exchange for the Dream Pod.

'It was way more comfortable than this… Not like I have extra space for it anyways.' Arthur thought to himself before he drifted away into sleep.

His night was ironically dreamless and he was woken up by an annoying voice.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

"Arthur! Open the damned door!" An irritated voice called from the outside.

"Ugh… for fuck's sake…" Arthur groaned and rose from the bed.

"Open the door this moment, or I'll rip it out!" A person shouted from the outside.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming!" Arthur shouted back.

Getting up, he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes before getting to the door.

Creak!

The door creaked and opened, revealing a pissed off man standing outside.

"Really took your sweet time, huh?" A man with a receding hairline spoke.

"What is it? It isn't even rent day Boyd." Arthur questioned the man.

"Hah! I wish it were rent day." Boyd snarled. "You think your morning was bad? Well, mine was worse."

"What happened to make it like that?" Arthur questioned.

"Imagine my surprise when a bunch of delivery guys park a large truck right outside my property and refuse to leave until they meet you!" Boyd answered, his tone sharp.

"Delivery guys?" Arthur furrowed his brows before it clicked for him. "Fuck! Why didn't they call?"

"They said they did. Your phone was turned off." Boyd said. "Now go and get your shit! I don't want that truck at the entrance for more than five minutes!" the landlord said before leaving.

With him gone, Arthur shook his head and let out a sigh.

"I wondered what I forgot to do in the game but I forgot to check the reality…" Arthur laughed in a self depreciating manner before going down.

There a large truck was waiting for him along with a few delivery people.

"Are you Arthur Grey?" A man holding a tablet asked.

"Yes. That's me." Arthur replied.

"You have a delivery from Hypnotek." The delivery guys said. "We tried reaching you but—"

"Yeah, I know. My phone was dead." Arthur interrupted the man. "Now, where do I sign?" he asked.

"Your fingerprint and sign on the manifest here." The delivery guy handed the tablet to Arthur.

He quickly pressed his thumb upon the given section and signed before giving the device back.

"Take it upstairs, boys." The man said to his colleague.

"On it." They worked rather quickly, taking out the packed Dream pod.

Arthur had thought that they might complain a bit about having to bring it upstairs that too through a narrow path, but they didn't. They were surprisingly calm and didn't ask Arthur much after that.

'Guess this much professionalism is to be expected even with the delivery people of Hypnotek.' Arthur thought.

But once they were in his room, another problem presented to them.

"Uhh… can you also take the bed down?" Arthur wondered if the request was too much.

"Sure. Where would you like us to put it?" They asked.

"You can just dump it behind the building," Arthur said, not caring about the old bed.

"Alright." The delivery people said before getting to work.

Two of them moved the bed while the other two placed the Dream Pod down. They unpacked the Dream Pod while the others got rid of the bed. The sleek Dream Pod was finally unveiled, but there were still a few things to do.

The delivery guys set up the power cables and everything that was left before running a couple of tests.

"Everything seems good." They finally said.

"Thank you for your service," Arthur replied as they left the apartment.

With them gone, Arthur touched the Dream pod prompting a metal tube to extend.

Arthur inserted his thumb in it, unlocking the pod for his use.

>User Identified: Arthur Grey<

>Dream Pod V3 is now available for use<

>Notification: Morpheus Online will become available in twelve hours<

A few lines of text popped up on its surface, showing that Arthur still had a while before he could play the game again.

"Plenty of time till log in." Arthur decided to get some breakfast till then.

And instead of just instant noodles, this time he added an egg to it.

"Sorry Doctor Furial, I still got some time before I can follow your advice," Arthur muttered to himself as he got to eating.

The rest of the day was spent either trying to think more about the events that would be happening. Arthur also needed to focus on the things that would be happening in the real world after all.
